I don't know the answer to your question, but just wanted to ask how you accessed the anti virals. I want to be prepared just in case!

I am on weekly Taxol and recently tested positive. I contacted my oncology team and they asked my GP to get the ball rolling with regard to getting the antivirals. However I also had messages from NHS track and trace to say that they would contact me within 24 hrs to arrange treatment. And within 24 hrs I had been contacted by my hospital Covid team and went in and had the infusion - I had to have this rather than 5 days of tablets as the tablets could react with the Taxol. I must admit I felt so much better very quickly and am so glad we get this offered to us. Check with your team as to whether there are any likelihood of interaction but definitely get the antivirals if you can x

Thankyou. Did you have to request a PCT test?

I only did a lateral flow test and then input this on the gov website - GP said not to bother having PCR and waiting for result to come back, it would all happen from positive lateral flow x

Lateral flow test all that’s needed x

Just found out I can have antibody infusion too and stay on meds so thank you for that info about you and taxol it was really helpful 🤗

So pleased to hear you’ve managed to get sorted. For the sake of a 30 minute infusion (then 30 mins obs) it’s well worth it. Within 36 hours I felt so much better and tested negative after 5 days. Hope all goes well x

Hi Jenny I received message from NHS after putting in positive lateral flow results onto site mentioned in lateral flow booklet. I haven’t received call yet so I need to contact GP to refer me on.

Hi Jenny. I was automatically sent a Full testing kit(without doing anything other than have the 4th vaccine) with a text message stating if I had symptoms to use this test rather than a lateral flow as it would mean I would get the anti viral meds quicker) Don't think a positive lateral flow test is enough for anti vitals to be administered unless anyone has a different experience.

I didn’t need antivirals as I felt ok after 4 days but I have to say I’ve still got weird cough 4 weeks on so may be worth it ???. Also when I told MDCU as couldn’t go into hospital to get blood done for PARP prescription, they went into meltdown and said supposed to stop PARPS during COVID Jennifer

Crumbs, I really don’t want to stop Orlaparib, I’ll have to see what they say. My blood work has always been good so fingers crossed x

As we are immune defficient, we get these th prevent the Covid getting too much of a hold. They need to be taken as soon as possible after a Covid positive test.

I think they are only available if you have COVID.

I’m sorry you have tested positive for Covid,I haven’t myself but was told by my doctor if I did I would be entitled to have the antivirals but I definitely think you should talk to your oncology team and the doctor.

I'd be interested to hear if you manage to get either anti viral or antibody treatment - when I spoke to my head chemo nurse last week (just as the government stopped testing) I was told they so far had no idea how anyone like me (on chemo) would access these drugs, because the system worked off a positive PCR test, (when I was supposed to ring 111 and get the treatment via them) and so far, they had not been informed what new arrangements would be in place.... especially for those of us who have fallen through the cracks and suddenly become invisible, so to speak, meaning not acknowledged to be 'vulnerable' by the NHS system because we were not on the vulnerable list, not having received any communications about it. So far as I can tell,, at least a third of people on cancer treatment had not been contacted regarding these covid treatments, and were not known about in terms of being vulnerable by the NHS...

Hi, Heart! My oncologist consulted ?? (IDK who) did labs (standard CMP and CBC) and keep me going on both. Did repeat labs After a week I think it was, but for me personally it was worth it to stay on Lynparza was it's been working well for me and I'm anxious.

That's great! I didn't know there was an 'NHS Covid Team', did you contact them or how did they know about your situation, may I ask?

You need to take antivirals within 5 days of being positive. Try calling the Infectious Diseases Doctor at your hospital if u have difficulty getting them prescribed. She prescribed them for me 2 days after NHS okayed them andthe hospital couriered them over that evening.
