I think the accepted wisdom is that you can drain ascities but to get rid of it you will need chemo xx

Hopefully you can get rid…. I’ve prided myself on maintaining a good figure but I found some good eating ideas on a hospital website and have everything ordered now and planned out to achieve minimal swelling.

Ascities isn’t weight gain or swelling of tissue…. It’s fluid caused by cancer x

I asked doc about it and got to eat protein and include protein drinks. Got some high protein snacks in to do my best with it.

Ascites was a big problem for me, I had it drained 5 or 6 times, every 3 weeks over 8 litres would accumulate. However my second chemo (carboplatin/paclitaxol) dried it up and I have not had a drain in over 6 months. What a relief to have it gone! Hope yours clears similarly. Best wishes xx

Consultant wasn’t worried when he saw size of tummy. He said it would be real big and not suddenly come on over the weekend!
