Sertraline for menopause

Hi, this is my first post. I was diagnosed with a borderline tumour in June 21 following a total abdominal hysterectomy. My consultant doesn't want me to take oestrogen so HRT is out of equation. My GP has prescribed Sertraline for flushes. I started them today and have had nausea and a little bit of running to loo. Has anyone been prescribed this medication, and if so did you get side effects a few hours later? I ask because I am due to go to hospital tomorrow as I have been experiencing a little pain in my lower right side for a couple of days and now I'm panicking because this has started today. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you 😊

Thank you so much for your reply. I think a lot is psychological because all the other things have happened since I called the hospital on Monday and they asked me to go in. It's very early in my journey so I am still trying to get my head around everything and trying not to panic at every niggle. I also think I have been doing too much and it may have come back to bite me on the bum. Thank you for your kind message x

Hi Siany, I also had a tummy upset and nausea when I started sertraline. Months on I feel great on it.

All the best with your hospital stay.

Hi, I'm in the same boat and was diagnosed with a borderline tumour although I was given HRT. There seems to be no continuity between any doctors. I'm not taking sertraline however I did have right side pain after my completion surgery and was assured that this was from scar tissue. If possible, try not to panic x

Thank you so much. The doctor said pretty much the same as you, likely to be scar tissues and adhesions as I had the added complication of a blood clot and infection. She had a feel all around the area. They have done a blood test for markers, just to give me peace of mind. Thank you for your reply ☺️

Hi, the only thing I know about Sertraline is that it was prescribed for my husband for Altzeimers. It’s supposed to improved me of. He had what I refer to as explosive bowel movements that were foul smelling. Best wishes to you.
