No emotions on new diagnosis.

So was gearing up at the beginning of this month to return to work after the CEV were allowed to do so, woke up the week before the 1st April with a sharpish pain on the lower right groin, put that down to muscle pull until a few days later started with temperature of 38.4 initially GP said appendix till I stated that was removed when I had the deabulking surgery tumour removal in January of last year, next came bladder due to few issues I was having that wasn't it either.

I had a oncology appt my usual booked so decided to wait unfortunately my normal Dr had food poisoning ( couldn't make this up if I tried ) ended up with a stand in who didnt have a clue and that got me riled up, was proscribed anti biotics on assumption it may be kidney or kidney stones related, following week had my Oncology appt with normal Dr at this point I was having regular temperature during the nights of around 38.5 next came black floaters in right eye that was a shocker anyhow, worked passed that.

Sunday had my CT scan Tuesday met back up with my oncologist, two possibilities two very different outcomes, based on a mass which is large in that area which is made up of fluid and solids.

Firstly it could be aninfection and the bowel is being obstructed ...groin area is hard no longer as painful but there is a tightness

Secondly it could be the disease is back CA was 4 now it's at 25 but oncologistis not worried.

So Thursday of this week I have an appt with the surgeon who is the same person who did my 9hr plus surgery, I have the utmost faith bit but again this could end up being a biopsy or an operation or both, also have a PET scan no date in that, been proscribed antibiotics which may bring about nausea ( joyful is that ) the problem is this they don't understand why I had a temperature ( sweated like never have in my lifetime ) so how do I feel actually pretty much in a stoic mood as before, aprt from my brother I haven't told anyone other person ( barring Teal ladies/warriors 🙂)

I feel good apart from being tired most probably due to the slight tightness around groin area do any thoughts on whether ours an infection or more should there be more symptoms? Kidney issue definitely dispelled which is good scary about the op but guessing more info Thursday.

SORRY ABOUT THE PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING. GETTING YOUR PET SCAN SCHEDULED WILL BE THE BEST TO STOP THE GUESSING GAME WHICH IS ALWAYS WORSE THAN KNOWING. HOPING FOR THE BEST NEWS FOR YOU! LEE

Hi MarleyZ, I'm sorry for what you are going through and I can't help only to say that your Doctors are not sure and are just giving you best guess which isn't always helpful. They probably don't want to give the pet scan too soon because of radiation exposure. The floaters are just a coincidence and not connected. I hope I have helped all the best Sue xx

Hi MarleyZ. I can totally relate to this as I have the same cyst/tumour combination in the lower right groin, measuring 10cm x 8cm. It has a fluid component and a cancerous component at the back. It causes pain in my right groin and right lower back. In my case it causes bladder issues, as it is next to the bladder, and compresses it. This means that during the day I don't pass urine very frequently, but overnight because I am lying down, and the bladder can fill up, I have to make a mad dash to the toilet. I have also been having the exact same temperature spikes that you are. I break out in a sweat, and feel unwell. I was offered an op a couple of years ago, diagnosis early 2017, but as I was not at all well then, declined. I regret it, as it is not an option now. Now for some info that might help. Last week before I was able to start chemo, they decided to do some blood cultures to see if the cyst/tumour was infected, and was causing the temperature spikes. If so I would need to go on antibiotics before starting treatment. Yesterday I started treatment, as the cultures came back clear. My Oncoligist had told me that there are two things that could be causing the spikes. 1. Infection, 2,the cancer can release chemicals when it is growing, which can cause those spikes. The one thing I would say to you, is that if you are early down the track with diagnosis and treatment, and are offered an op to remove, then take it. For me that damn thing has now become enemy number 1. Hope this helps, as I have fiund no one who has had the same thing, until your post. Best of luckTherese.

Hi Therese Thanks for replying..so have more info had meeting with surgeon Thursday have alot of faith in this guy as he is the one who did tumour removal and hysterectomy earlier last year 9hr op as tumour was sinister... so he wants the PET scan he is already put me on list for mid May for a operation followed by chemo or no chemo depending on outcome...either he will go into right hand side groin and find something twisted around intestine which will require a intersection had that on last operation, the mass/tumour is 10.5 the other one was the same but I couldn't feel that one, I know with this something is there, again he does not want to do a biopsy as he said he may just draw fluid out which does not get a result ...operation should be 3 to 4 hrs recovery around 3 to 4 days or up to 9 days if there is a bowel issue ( hate the thought of that the most) the PET scan lot called me 45 mins before I saw the surgeon and will hopefully call back today as I wasn't sure if the surgeon would wait or simply go for it ie operation wise ...from what they gleaned of the CT scan it's free standing not attached to any organs etc but it could have blood vessels around intestine area ... so things moving fast I wasn't emotional last time as I had put up the defender and worked on principle 1 appt at a time didn't bother googling or speaking to people lol my boss called me stoic with the mentality I had ...I am totally in awe of onocology team I have and yes I have decided as long as I have a bit if fight in me I will undergo the operation.

I had been at a steady CA125 of 4 it jumped to 25 nothing which is concerning them but they don't want to hang around apparently not many offered ops 2nd time around for whatever reason... Dawn
