Hello ladies, I hope that you are managing ok through these difficult times.
Yesterday I had a telephone Consultation with my Oncologist, and I am pleased to say that my CT scan was was good, which I was pleased about. Lymph nodes in chest gone down, no lung or stomach fluid so that was a relief.
I will be starting on the parp Rucaparib on the 1st of December, which is 8 weeks after I finished chemo, which was for my 1st recurrence for 41/2 years. I am BRCA negative, but having had carboplatin for recurrence and on my initial lot of chemo originally I can have this parp.
I am not looking forward to starting this regime, but feel I need to give it a go. My Oncologist did say that should I feel it is affecting my quality of life to much then I would be able to come off of it. Naturally I am trying hard to stay positive and just hope it works. The good thing is I will be monitored closely as they have a monthly clinic,
Take care everyone and stay safe,
Caleda x

Keep strong and stay positive. Hopefully Rucaparib goes down very well and gives you good outcomes. It’s a pill rather than IV and many ladies over here commented on this aspect of freedom.
Hi Caleda that's fab news about your lymph node and results. I am now on my second week of taking Rucaparib and the sickness that started s few days ago had now virtually gone. I am no longer taking the anti sick meds and feel so much better. I am on the full dosage 1200mg per day. Im too braca neg and although the three lymph nodes have shrunk substantially when I finished chemo was not NED but I'm.hoping Rubraca is working for me and will keep me stable for a long time. I started Rubraca 7 weeks after I finished chemo. I wish you all the very best going forward. Any questions just message me.xx
Hi Win,Thank you for your message, I wondered how you were getting on now, and was pleased to read that you are feeling much better. Fingers crossed that you get good results and that things do stay stable.I will let you how I get on. Take care, Caleda x
Hi Caleda. Good news on your scan. I’m sitting drinking the contrast for a ct scan as I write this. I’ve been on Olaparib after chemo for first recurrence since April. I have a somatic brca 1 mutation plus PALB2 so I have believed the PARP would help me for a long time. I did have difficulty with fatigue and nausea at first and only in the past month have felt really good. However I’ve been having twinges of pain in my left pelvis where my original tumor and my recurrence were. My CA 125 is always low so only a scan will tell. I’m hoping the pain is scar tissue . . . Good luck with the PARP!
Hi Delia,I hope that your scan turns out to be good news. It is the waiting to find out the results that is so awful. I will keep my fingers crossed and just hope that the parp is actually working for you. Thank you for replying to me as it is always useful to know how others get on with the parps.
Hi Delia. I hope all goes well for you with this new drug. Stay strong - if anyone can get through this, you can. I am just coming up to last treatment of carbo/caelyx for first recurrence. Although intermediate scans showed a good response I am hoping for some better news soon. I also want to discuss further treatment/maintenance on parps with oncologist as, like you, I have been on carboplatin twice and am BRCA negative. She hasn't mentioned continuing treatment yet so I might have to bring this up with her. I shall be following your journey with interest. Wishing you all the best and take care. 🤗 Jackie x
