Super clumsy

Is it only me that finds the doors, particularly handles and things leap out and bruise. I am on dexamethasone every three days so prone to bruises anyway but my clumsiness is really irritating. I suspect it’s because I have paraesthesia in my hands and feet. On Sunday, it’s always the weekend isn’t it, I was clearing the table and dropped some secateurs. They brushed my leg. In normal times I wouldn’t have had a mark but with lymphoedema and a swollen leg I ended with a triangular cut. This was from the handle not the blade I am glad to say. Blood everywhere of course. I put a pressure bandage on it. Fortunately I have a huge bag of dressings and then began the process of getting help. First, I rang the district nurses who come regularly and know me and left a message on their answerphone. As a shielder, I didn’t want to risk going to the walk-in centre nor did I particularly want to call the emergency services. I think I’ve done the best for it and could get more action yesterday. Everything Was slightly compounded by my having to go out today. Another story! So yesterday I called the district nurses no idea that that I had left a message but I would get referred. The hospice was not open and I didn’t manage to get to ring the surgery because I wasn’t well in the morning. I re-dressed the wound and it’s not looking great. It needs proper attention. I must say I did feel a bit trapped yesterday. I shall blame the virus but it does seem harder to get help these days. Hope you guys are having a better day and learning like me to look at where you put your feet and hold on to things you’re carrying!

Oh tell me about it! Also on dexymexys and my arms get covered in bruises and cuts! I was seriously thinking about Kevlar arm coverings to protect me from myself. Of course I start gardening or playing with the dog and forget that I am going to end up with damage..... oh dear! xx

I now model myself on cricket’s Ben Stokes and go about with sleeves on. Maybe I should also get football shin pads 😆
