I am so sorry to have to let you know that Anne, my Ovacome friend from Cornwall, has passed away this Sunday, 21 of June, at her lovely home.
After waging many battles, including coming on the train to London with her husband last year for a second opinion from the Royal Marsden, as well as meeting with the COC, her condition continued to deteriorate and she has been in much discomfort.
Finally, she decided enough was enough and chose to reject hospice and palliative care, and instead enjoyed her last days at home with her husband, Allesandro and her adult children.
I am very saddened by her passing. I wish there had been some miracle that would have saved her.
At least I did get to meet her in London, where we had lunch together with her husband in the Cafe Roma, across from the Royal Marsden and we formed a bond that has remained until now.
I am comforted to know that she led a remarkable and adventurous life, living and working in Rome for 40 years, then moving to Cornwall to study horticulture.
She was a vibrant soul and we will all miss her.

So sad to hear about Anne. My condolences to you and her family.
That is very sad news about Anne. as she was I believe quite a determined person. I saw that she was really poorly recently & have wondered how she was.

Very sad - but glad that she got to spend her last days with her loved ones - thinking of her family and you - it’s always hard when we form these bonds through cancer and then our friends die x
Oh, Laura. I am so sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to you and her family. I am sure that your friendship truly added to her quality of life and comforted her to just know you were there for her.
Thank you for letting us know that dear Anne has succumbed to this hateful disease. I admitted her strength and bravery and hope she had a peaceful end with the love and support of her family. Please pass on my sympathy to her family - and a big ((((HUG)))) for you .
So sad to read this Laura. She was an indomitable lady and explored many avenues in her search for treatment. I. The end, she made the decision that was right for her.

This is such sad news. I remember the posts about her going to London and meeting you on the train and for lunch later. It hardly seems 2 mins ago and now she’s gone. I’m so sorry - may she R.I.P.

This is such sad news Laura. I have not been a member of overcome for long but I have read some of Anne's posts and replies. She was such a lovely determined and brave lady. Her presence will be missed. My condolences to you and her family. Jackie

Dear Laura, that’s so very sad to read that Anne lost the battle but is now at peace , and for sure your loving loyal and empathetic friendship meant a great deal to her and gave her strength and resilience in her toughest times . Her posts were so full of fighting spirit and she must have been a terrific character with a strong personality . I think true selfless friendship is a beautiful thing . Honourable , kind, honest and sincere, and to have known that when she needed it most was a wonderful thing. I’m sending you and her family deep sympathy and love.
So sad to hear this. Thank you, Laura, for letting us know. Anne was a fighter and the decision to stop treatments and just enjoy life with her family gave her more joy than pain, I am sure.
