Anybody else experienced this? It’s not too bad, I’m just wondering if it’s a common side effect. Many thanks Ladies x

Hi there,I had a red rash come up around my eyes and across my cheeks on the 2nd evening after my first carbo/taxol.I also felt quite flushed in the face.I phoned the hospital to check and they advised to see how it went overnight providing I didnt have a temperature, which I didnt and to call back if it got worse. It wasnt itchy. I went to bed and by the morning the rash on my face had gone.I then did have a very itchy rash come up on my lower tummy and inner thighs.Later speaking to my oncologist he said its okay to take an antihistamine,as Taxol can cause skin sensitivities. This stopped the itching and I also rubbed in some Aveeno moisturiser. This persisted for a couple of days but it did go away. However,if it is a side effect that persists continuously I think they would look at the dose of the taxol.Do let your hospital know about it if it continues or before you have your next treatment if it settles in the meantime.

Thank you so much, I wasn’t sure whether to contact the hospital last night, but it didn’t get any worse so I went to bed and it’s eased a bit now. I did wonder about taking a piriton last night, maybe I’ll call them today to see what they think.

I’m glad you got your itchiness sorted,

Thank you for the info’ much appreciated

It’s not uncommon to have this side effect from taxol, I found using either E45 or Aveeno really helped stave off the itch plus they help keep your skin moisturised as chemo does dry your skin out. Speak with your oncology team if the issue persists they may adjust your dose or increase your antihistamine. I hope your chemo does it’s job and isn’t too arduous for you. Virtual hugs 🤗❤️Xx Jane

Hi, if it resolves then make sure you tell your chemo nurse or dr before yr next chemo just to make sure yr not having a reaction to either the carbo or taxol. Hopefully yr doing ok today xx

I had a scarlet burning face but not itchy - I didn't have taxol just carbo. They decided it was the steroids causing it. I was prescribed hydrocortisone cream which eased it but it only lasted about 24 hrs each cycle
