Off label drugs

Hello I was wondering peoples thoughts please. I am post op 8 weeks, had debulking surgery & all removed , have clear cell 2b ovarian cancer. Plan is 6 Chemo’s & have had 1 & and next one planned Monday. I was wondering what people think about doing off label drugs whilst having chemo. After the first chemo I was pretty horrible with side effects!! I have discussed with oncologist & she is reasonably okay with it although not encouraging. Any thoughts please?

Thank you, stay safe

Hi, I'm not taking supplements with chemo (taxol/carbo). Because I don't know if there would be any interactions. I have my last chemo in two weeks time, then I will re-start my supplements. I'm still learning about which ones to take, so would love to hear other's views. Regards jan. x.

Hi, every time I asked my consultant about supplements, he ALWAYS said no! So sorry can’t help anymore than that! x

Personally I believe chemo is the time to do exactly what you are told and not to mess about with other meds that have less evidence attached. Surely this is something you could take up after chemo? xx

Have the drugs been prescribed for you? I took my off label drugs all through my chemo last year and continue to do so now, but this is under the guidance of my Care Oncology Clinic doctor. I believe the drugs improved my response to the chemo.

Hello. I only take Vit D and calcium. If you take supplements it’s worth checking the Sloan Kettering website for adverse interactions with chemo. It seems to be the best source of info (the oncologists use it too!). Www.mskcc.org
