Turning teal for OC awareness month.

Hi everyone

I just wanted to show you all that since Angie's tragic death at Christmas, i have not deserted the cause of raising OC's profile. March is OC awareness month and ever since she was diagnosed, raising awareness was important to Angie and so it remains with me. It wouldn't be hard to just curl up with my grief, but that was not my Angie's attitude to life with cancer and I refuse to allow it to be mine after her death. So, in honour of Angie and to spread the OC message I have been working hard with our business's "Turning teal campaign." Many of you will know, Angie was an animal lover and particularly loved dogs. As a result we formed our dog grooming business in 2011 just a little over a year before diagnosis. Our corporate colour was blue, but as from today it is 'turning teal.' The local magazine tells it better than I can here, take a look at page 57...issuu.com/lifepublications/...

My hope is obviously that the OC message can be spread far and wide as a result of our change, but it doesn't stop there. I don't want this to be a one off. If I can do it with my business, maybe we can persuade other businesses to follow suit next March and keep the 'turning teal campaign' rolling on every year for as long as its needed. That's where you come in... start thinking now who might be persuaded and ask them. What do you think? A good idea?

Healing hugs to you all.

Andy x

What a great idea Andy. Great article too. I hope the change of colour is a constant reminder to all your clients to be vigilant for early signs of cancer. It's tragic this disease took Angie at such a young age and so swiftly. Best of luck with your campaign. xx Annie

Well done Andy. We need to raise awareness of the symptoms of this disease ourselves. I have done an article for Cancer Focus, a charity here in NI and it will hopefully go out in the Belfast Telegraph during March to mark our month. I have also written to the Lord Mayor and also Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast City Council to see if we can have the Belfast City Hall lit up in teal at some point during the month of March. If we all do a bit of awareness, then hopefully the message will get through. Ann x
