Advice please on any preparation to diminish side effects from Carbo/Caelyx combination.
I believe ice packs on hands and feet can be helpful?
Does anyone have any tips and / or experience of these drugs please.
Thank you x

I have just had my 6th carbo/caelyx and am waiting for my scan appointment. For me it hasn't been too difficult mainly my hands and feet got very hot dry and sore keep them well moisturised the CNS will be able to prescribe cream which helps. Will be thinking of you xx
My hands got very sore when I was on caelyex, had to be taken off caylax but hands still sore with taxol.like yours very dry and cracked. I have been putting e45 lotion on also have tried nivea lotion for very dry skin. It's helped a bit, but like you was wondering if there is anything else I could use. Xx
Hi Juliette
Try Aveeno cream, my Onc prescribed it for me and it's been amazing. She also prescribed a vit B6 supplement (Pyridoxine) to help with the 'Palmar Plantar Erythrodysesthesia' when I was on Caelyx. Keep your hands and feet cool and avoid extremes of temperature, especially hot water (don't wash up!!). I've also found wearing sandals to keep the feet cool helps.

I was just on Caelyx but my hand and feet were very red and hot so tried to keep them cool as much as possible, wearing flip flops round the house, I was also sensitive to heat so had tepid showers, drink lots of water.
Good luck with treatment xx
My hubby keeps telling me to drink more as I know I don't drink enough. Xx
I'm the same I have good days where I drinks loads then bad days when I don't drink enough but I do feel the difference when I am good.
Xx
Thanks girls. I'm just about to start this too so really helpful to hear others experience. I've ordered some "udder" cream for hands and feet! I've spent most of the summer wearing my walking sandals so looks like it may be my winter look too. I generally try to keep my feet warm as I have plantar fasciitis so that may be a different problem! As long as it's not as grim as Taxol.... Cheers. Rx
I was on carboplatin and taxol last year and didn't get this dryness if the hands and feet. But it started when I was oncaylax. I am now on taxol alone, so wondering if it's still the after effects of the caylax. 😏xx
