I have just finished 16 infusions of taxol. Coped with it very well but; a day or so after treatment my nose would start to bleed very slightly, not pouring just dripping and last for five or six days.
Has anyone else had anything similar. When I ask the nurses in the chemo ward about it they seem surprised.

I haven’t had taxol on its own but I have suffered from nosebleed ever since I was on Avastin 3 years ago.
My bleeds have become more manageable since I increased my blood iron ( usually pretty anemic).
Other things to try apply pressure for at least 10mins and try holding frozen peas against your nose as the cold also helps clotting ( don’t put the bag directly on your skin).
There’s a cream you can get if your nostrils are sore. Hope one of those helps xx
Congratulations on finishing the taxol. I know that’s in my future and dread it. It’s good to know you didn’t find it horrible. Low platelets would cause nosebleeds but I’m sure your team is monitoring that.
I’ve got my 10th infusion tomorrow and every time I don’t get an actual nose bleed, but my nose gets quite blocked and when I blow it, it’s usually mainly blood I blow out. Spoke to my oncologist and she didn’t seemed bothered, just prescribed some cream to put up my nose which didn’t seem to do anything.
I’ve so far found this chemo so easy even though it’s weekly, almost feel back to pre cancer days. I’ve a scan due soon and hoping to get another 3 months on it 🤞
I have been on taxol and carbo ,I had a huge nosebleed twice , but I'm on anticoagulant injections as well so that wouldn't have helped must be very annoying ,hope it gets sorted soon .xx
I had exactly the same issue when I had my taxol, I had it weekly so that maybe a contributing factor? it’s not uncommon apparently, my chemo buddy also experienced this. There are no long lasting bloody noses once chemo stops though. Well done on completing your treatment lovely ❤️Xx Jane
Yep, sounds fairly normal, Katie. I have just completed my 6th infusion (Carbo/Taxol/Avastin) and will continue to have Avastin until I have had a year's worth. Every morning I have to clear my nose of blood and mucus and on occasion in doing so causes me nose bleeds.
