Latest update on 3rd line chemo

Hi Ladies

Started third line carboplatin 6/09/2019. Midway scan after 3 rounds showed slight reduction of some lymph nodes, but increase of one and omental caking in left pelvis unchanged.

Fourth chemo delayed a week due to low platelets. Fifth chemo due Friday.

Appointment with consultant 18th December to arrange scan with last chemo due 27/01/2020.

Another "interesting"Christmas.

Best wishes to all

Janet

Oh Jan,

What a drag. It seems that you are always in treatment and feeling pretty miserable about it.

Where are you located?

Is it time to go for a second opinion?

Your Oncologist sounds sweet, but it is time to think outside the box.

Hopefully, you can remain stable through the holidays and get lots of help from family and friends.

It might just be that you need something new added to your regimen, something you can only get in a clinical trial.

But for now, a little break would be nice for you.

I wish you all the best,

Laura

Hi Laura

Thanks for reply.

We are in the North East of the UK, County Durham.

Hope the next 2 infusions go to plan and see what CT results show.

You are probably right about a second opinion but feel as though I have to see this through.

Seem to be coping better this time but very tired.

Wishing you all the best

Janet

I am on the same treatment for third line. Have had two infusions so far. After the first one my CA125 reading had decreased from 20& to 135. Next reading will be prior to the 3rd infusion due 13/12. No scan here unless reading goes up, or until the end., which will be in Early March 2020. I have a largish cyst with a cancerous component on the back. Nodules in the peritoneum and spots on the liver. At least you are going through chemo over winter, it is summer here and has been unbearably hot the last couple of weeks. Not pleasant when you are feeling under the weather.

Hi

Thanks for reply. I have 3 or 4 enlarged lymph nodes, mostly in abdomen but one at aortic root which is the one still growing. No primary ever found and told inoperable from start.

Sorry you are finding the heat difficult.

I am sitting watching the roofs nearby with a white frost which does not seem to be lifting.

Dog looking at me with those big brown eyes so I will have to bite the bullet and take her out.

Hope all goes well with your next infusion.
