Weekly taxol

Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone’s had any success with just weekly taxol.

I went through weeks of tests to see if I qualified to go on the dice trial, did qualify, but was randomly NOT chosen, which seemed such a waste of time, so now been put on weekly taxol as my 4th line chemo

Morning Elfed

I too had Taxol for 18 weeks. Found it quite easy for my first 14 weeks then struggled slightly with the last four. Stuck with it and was rewarded with two years treatment free.

So get those big knickers and your cape on and go for it!!

Good luck 👍

I'm due to start weekly taxol on Monday as my 3rd line treatment. I'm taking so much comfort from "seeing" other ladies on here who have gone through this and others who are in the same boat as I am. Best wishes to you and here's hoping we both have the best experience possible with this drug. The clinic trial experience sounds VERY frustrating x

Hello,

I am also on the DICE trial and also on the control arm (I agree very frustratig but that's randomisation for you). I've completed 6 weeks of taxol and my CA125 has started to come down, after initially increasing. I'm having CT scans and an MRI next week so that should give an indication if there has been further progression or not. It's still very early days though!

Hi Belinda,

I get my DICE trial scan on Thursday, 14 of November. It’s during what I thought would be a complete rest week, but it turns out I have to keep taking the TAK228.

That’s disappointing, as it has similar side effects as Taxol and hits me hard every weekend.

So glad to hear that your CA-125 dropped and I guess you’ll be having another test at the start of your next cycle.

Hope they are treating you well,

Best wishes,

Laura

The battle is a long running one against a foe who does not give up easily. WHile the taxols are very effective be careful that you do not become resistant to them. If you notice no improvement try and have a test to see if you have become resistant. it happens in many cases where treatment with chemo drugs are concerned. In the USA they are trying to use NSAIDs to extend the use of taxols. mention this to your Onc. Best wishes

So you are not in the DICE trial at all? Not even in the control arm?

They must have filled all the spaces then, I guess.

What a shame.

As you know, I am in the TAK228 arm and had a hard time with both drugs, but doing well on the reduced dosage.

I do believe that usually Taxol alone is amazing for its cancer destroying powers, but very toxic all around.

You’ll do fine and be ready for the next clinical trial they offer!

Best wishes,

Laura
