Hi Ladies me again with more to the saga , so after getting onc to give me cisplatin sadly after my first infusion my ca has now gone from 506 to 950 😰 I am feeling very disillusioned this evening, oncology nurses are so very kind telling me not to give up that they will find something else, my onc has said today to carry on with cisplatin as the scan which was read On 25/10 is stable, how was cisplatin for you ladies ????

Hi Loren I haven't been on Cisplatin so cant advise on that particular treatment, I have however been on Caelyx/carbo mix and after my first infusion my CA125 rose by 300 points, I was gutted but a nurse told me it was quite common and to persevere, I did and am happy to say my CA125 has come down significantly after 4 infusions. Good Luck x
Thankyou Lyn, so happy that caelyx/ carbo is doing the trick for you , I'm praying that cisplatin might just work better after the second infusion, I also have ascities build up so back to oncology ward on Monday to see about draining
Received 3 rounds of Cisplatin along with Carbo/Taxol and then the Cisplatin was stopped after a hearing loss was detected (Avastin was added instead). My CA125 came down slowly. I was hospitalized for the infusions and received a hearing test each time (after a baseline was recorded). I am grateful the doctors monitored this possible side effect with Cisplatin.
I find the oncology nurses to be so knowledgeable and our biggest supporters so stay positive!
Thank you so much for your reply, I did ask about stopping the cisplatin if there is no change after the next infusion and adding Avastin, my oncolgy nurse said she will put it to the oncologist on Tuesday 🙏🙏

I had it a few years ago. It is carboplatin's older harsher sister! Nausea was a big issue but it can be an effective drug so I wouldn't write it off. All the best with everything.
I had Cisplatin for 2nd line treatment didn’t have a ca125 test during treatment as it didn’t increase from 13 with recurrence. I had a ct scan post treatment and only a small nodule could be seen on the scan. I am currently stable.
