Hi lovely ladies, Had my scan results yesterday and the caelyx/Carbo has not worked on my 1st recurrence. She has referred me to Royal Marsden and Christie’s for a second opinion and possible trial options, if available. I’m gutted obviously but still hopeful, going to try and get to Portugal next week whilst I have a well window of opportunity. Has anyone gone down this route recently and if something does happen does anyone know approx timeline? I don’t want to risk a possible appointment if I’m not in the country for a week. Take care and stay happy folks. Bex x
Chemo Stopped : Hi lovely ladies, Had my scan... - My Ovacome
Chemo Stopped
Hi Bex,
I am so sorry to read this. I hope you don't mind my asking did your CA125 drop during this regime ?
I am seen by head of gynacology at Marsden- Dr SB, she is wonderful, very kind, really , really knows her stuff ( leads on research) and I hope they or Christie's can offer you something. Anyway I wanted to let you know that I do video consultations with her so if you are in Portugal and have access to a internet maybe this is a possibility? It would be do lovely for you to get in the sun and have a break. Thinking of you and hoping for the best xxx
Hi Sassy, ca125 crept up to 180 a slow increase but not sure what the Parp was doing previously. Was 2500 on diagnosis. 2 small patches on spleen and liver have stayed at 5 mm but stomach lymph has increased to 12mm after 3 cycles. Yes it’s Dr SB that I’ve been referred to. Fingers crossed she has something in her cancer treatment cupboard. You are right it’s not as if initial meeting can’t be by video wherever I may be. Thank you, I’ve stopped panicking a bit xx
She is lovely and you are in good hands. You could email her secretary and let her know that you want to go away with dates. I am sure they will accommodate you and want you to take up this chance. If you pm me I can send across secretary details - I haven't worked out how to pm or would do directly. Xxx
Hi Bex, What a great community this is, I've heard Dr SB's reputation is great. I just wanted to say have a great trip to Portugal. All the best Sue xx
Hello
I’m sorry to hear that the treatment hasn’t worked so far but please please don’t lose faith. My mums being treated at the Marsden for a recurrence of endometrial cancer. She had the results of her first scan yesterday and I’m very pleased to say it seems to be working. She’s only half way through chemo so fingers crossed there should be more progress through each cycle
Please please go to the Marsden. They are absolutely outstanding. The level of card and time they have for you is second to none.
My mums also on an immunotherapy trial which again Marsden offered
Go with Marsden and I’m convinced they will be able to treat you
Sending you lots of love xxxx ❤️❤️❤️ Happy to help further xxx
Hi Bex.
Carbo/caelyx failed for my first recurrence too. I had significant progression on it. As this effectively means platinum resistance (and thus parps being off the table), my next treatment was weekly Taxol for 18 sessions. I had good results on it and felt generally well most of the time. We are all different, of course, but I'd understood that this was fairly normal treatment where carbo/caelyx fails. Maybe they think there is a possibility that you might benefit from surgery given the location of your mets. xx
I had this 3rd line didn't work. Then caelyx which didn't work then taxol which did. You an at the beginning so dont worry lots of options including trials. Hugs from paris
Hello Esmerelda101. I was on Carbo/Calex after my first recurrence and after 2 rounds my markers had risen significantly so they stopped treatment assuming I was no longer responding and organised a trial for me. While waiting for the trail to begin I was doing all of the qualification tests etc. the day before I was to start the trial the trial doctor called me to tell me I did not qualify because the test showed a delayed response to the previous treatment meaning I went back to the carbo blend and now have been 6 months on parps trial. I am ned and getting on with things. It’s an emotional roller coaster but there are options out there and sometimes doctors get it wrong so don’t hesitate to get second or third opinions... your not being disloyal your protecting yourself. Big hugs and love. Stay strong... 💜
