Cruise Update

Hello Ladies - I promised to let you know how the cruise went, well it was fantastic! I would definitely go on another one in a heart beat. In fact we are looking at the Baltic for our next adventure, but I have to get my next 3 monthly check up out of the way before we commit. I am sorry to hear that some of you are very poorly at the moment, here's hoping you are improving daily. Sincerest good wishes to you all. Lyn xx

Hello Lyn glad you had such a wonderful time. I guess your worries about being sea sick were unfounded. I have never been on a cruise as we are both not good on ferries, but do fancy trying one in Norway for the scenery. Good luck with your check up and get ready to book that next cruise asap. Hello Sylvia -Thank you, I am nervous re the checkup all ready, it was nice to forget about cancer for a week. No, it was only gale force 3 which apparently is very calm - thank goodness, but we heard lots of stories from seasoned cruisers who spoke of gale force 10 up the bay of Biscay! I think ferries can be worse as they don't have the stabilisers that cruise ships have. Very bad storms are few and far between, and apparantly the on board doctor gives you an injection that stops it almost immediately, I would say go for it! My husband also wants to do the Fjords, it is said the views are stunning so that is on our list of cruises to do.

Thank you, trying to remain positive and upbeat but you all know what its like coming up to a check up you just can't help but worry, every twinge is a recurrence in your mind. Oh well what will be will be. Will try to stay busy. xx

Great to hear you enjoyed it. It is so realxing and trouble free way of holidaying.

One question - did you have a travel insurance and if so, did it cover you for anything cancer related? I live in Australia and can’t find that type of cover.

Cheers

Grace

in reply toGrace-53

Thank you Grace it was mega relaxing, just what the doctor ordered.

We used World Travel and yes it covered my cancer, I am NED at the moment and not on any treatment. The questions were comprehensive at least 100, regarding diagnosis, treatment and current status. We paid £106 for full cover for 7 days. Here is the link to the website world-first.co.uk Good luck. xx

Glad you enjoyed it. Fjords are on my list to do. I always like to have a holiday in hand booked so I have something to look forward to.

Best wishes

I couldn't agree more, being on holiday really helps me relax, and that can only be a good thing. xx

Cruises are such a nice getaway and I am so glad you had a wonderful time. It's 100 degrees here this weekend but I took my grandsons to the beach and dreamt of iceberg views instead of sandy mirages. I've only been on 2 cruises to the Caribbean but next, I swear, will be Alaska. Try not to be too anxious for your checkup. Of course that's impossible but everything will be fine!

in reply togrammeejill

Thank you Grammeejill - If you want colder weather, you should come to England! ha ha

Take Care xx

It's on my bucket list, Lyn! With a last name of Lancaster it's practically demanded I go and claim my rightful ownership to Lancaster castle! 😁 and with McAuley as my mother's maiden name, I might as well take a side jaunt to the Emerald Isle! Your country is lovely.

Yes a cruise is a brilliant way to travel and so relaxing. In fact we were so comfy in our cabin that we didn’t really want to be bothered to go ashore. Enjoy the next one!

in reply toNeona

Some passengers didn't go ashore, some had been before, some like you were happy on board, you can tailor the experience to your exact liking, for me it was the moving to a new destination without no effort what so ever, if we liked the sound of the port, we got off to explore, and just went back at our leisure. Brilliant!

Hi Lyn, I’m so pleased you had such a good time and are busy researching your next holiday. Good luck with your 3 month appointment, let us know how you get on. ❤️Xx Jane

in reply toCropcrop

Thank you Jane, it was wonderful feeling "normal" for a week, my hair has grown back so I had a pixie cut, no odd looks from people or the sympathy sigh which I hate. xx

That is such great news and ready to book the next makes it even better! I have a vacation planned in late June while I am currently relapsing with no plan! (Will know that plan by week of June 3). It's still so nice to look forward to--and to go! So glad you enjoyed. oxox Judy

Thank you Judy. Good luck with your trials, I hope they find the perfect plan for you. Enjoy your Vacation. Lyn xx

Hi Lyn. Good for you. Holidays are the way to go when we can. I am always planning the next trip, though in Australia I can't get any insurance that's cancer related. But I go anyway after weighing up my health and potential risks. Glad you had such a good time.

Big hugs

Thank you. I hope you enjoy your next holiday as much as I did. It really made me feel like my old self.......if only for a little while. xx

Thank you, the dreaded CTscan today and CA125 blood. Should get the blood test results tomorrow so at least I will be able to gauge what I am up against. Hopefully stable. xx

Hi Lyn,

It’s great to hear that you are getting so much out of life. I believe in making plans for the future: sometimes they work out, and sometimes they don’t! I’d never stop planning, even if I lose my deposits sometimes.

Good for you! Here’s hoping the next one is as much fun 😃

Thank you Iris - After I finished my chemo a dear friend who had a massive heart attack at 47 and then another shortly after said to me...........don't waste your life waiting for a recurrence get on with it, which is what he did! He is on cruise nos. 33. I doubt I will be able to match his amount of cruises but I am going to have a b****y good go!! Tally Ho!!
