Hey everyone, hope you are doing as well as you can be. I apologize for being quiet on her, the passing of LA was pretty hard for me.
I am just asking if anyone had a total bowel obstruction and was able for it to resolve on its own without surgery?
Over the passed two months, mom was admitted for two partial bowel blockage and has just admitted for a total bowel obstruction. She also has been dealing with a UTI over the past couple weeks. We are desperate for this bowel obstruction to clear up along with the infection so she can get on chemo.

Hi I had a total bowel obstruction in February ,my family was called but 3 days later I “pooped “ added to the drama my left lung filled with over 2 Ltr ascites that had to be drained. Two weeks ago started vomiting was readmitted with slight blockage. Gastrografin given which cleared it this time. I am stage 4 on Calyx marker level 220 steady. Good luck
Hi Kris, I've never had that problem but just want to wish your Mom well. I do hope her problem is resolved soon. It must be such a worry for you both. Love, Solange 😊
Hi. I had a total bowel obstruction, but after a week nil by mouth, it still hadn't cleared so needed surgery. Hopefully your mum's will clear on its own.
Sorry to hear of your awful condition. It is so unsettling and causes anxiety. If Movicol cannot help the doctors here use Moviprep that has a reputation of moving mountains. My GP who is also into Palliative medicine warned to be ready with a plastic sheet and washable towels and paper towels. Your Oncologist must be told as well and see what he/she suggests before doing so. It is an otc medicine in South Africa. no prescription.
