Letrazole

Hello all, am new on this site so bear with me please. Am low grade serus 3c, inoperable, and have completed 6 carboplatin chemo. Now going on to letrazole. Can anyone tell me what to expect with this tablet? Chemo initially had an impact but this seems to have worn off and CA slowly rising although CT scan doesn't show spread at all. I read your posts and am truly inspired by you all.

My mum was on this, we arent sure if it helped or not but interestingly now she is off it (as started on a trial) she has not been getting any stomach pain like she was before.

I have tolerated Letrozole very well. Only problem is night sweats which disrupt my sleeping but overall I get plenty of sleep despite this difficulty. All the best with it, it is working well and keeping my tumour at bay and I’ve been told it is like treating a chronic disease like diabetes. I wish you all the best with it. Keep us posted as to how you fare with it.

Thank you juliamillen and MissEd, I will let you know how I get on. Apart from my last chemo session I think I have reacted fairly well, so fingers crossed I will do the same for Letrozole, despite being 75!

Generally, Letrozole is an easy treatment. I was on it for almost a year. I had some stiffness in my joints at first but this lessened after a couple of months. Good luck!

Hello there. I'm a low grader too and currently on both Avastin and Letrozole (Letrozole since Aug 2018).

So far, the side effects have been reasobably manageable. Quite tired, very occasional hot flushes. I take it at night.,before going to bed.

Incidentally, I too experienced a slowly rising ca125 but no visible disease on scans, after my initial treatment.

It was only when the tumor marker eventually jumped up massively, that we ran a PET CT scan and saw a recurrence light up two of my pelvic lymph nodes. It took more than two years to manifest.

So hopefully you have a long stretch of life, before needing treatment again.

All the best. Maus

Thank you for your encouraging reply Maus. I will take it at night too (first one today). Am waiting for drainage of ascites which is making me short of breath and unable to eat much, and once that is done hopefully I will feel "normal". It does help having you lovely people to correspond with. Thanks x
