Hi there,

You had a lovely remission this past year, but the darned thing is back.

You did so well last time on Carbo and Caelyx, I wonder why you can not have the same again and then afterwards PARP inhibitor.

I would ask for this, if I were you.

Bring out the Big Guns, I say!

Hope this helps,

Laura

How disappointing. How many chemos have you had? My mum has had three lots - Carbo/Taxol/debulking in 2014. Recurrence in 2015 so Caelyx. Then the beast woke up after 18 months of being fairly stable, but CA125 still over 100. So Carbo/Taxol again in July 17 but she's been stable since then and CA125 was 9 last time she saw onc. But I dread it waking up again. :-( Sending best wishes. Jane X

Hi dryden1, sorry to hear the disease has returned, it seems much harder to deal with emotionally once it's come back. Still you have a plan and onwards and upwards as they say. I had single agent Carbo for my first recurrence every 3 weeks, it is one of the standard treatments here. It worked quickly and well, although after 7 months I recurred again. I had good quality of life through treatment. My oncologist knows that I prefer quality in the "now" so she tries to design the treatment to have minimal impact on my life.

Best of luck with the new treatment, Dawn xx

I had single agent carboplatin at the very beginning of my cancer journey and it kept progression at bay for 18 months. I'd like to wish the same for you, honey bunny. I'm going down the radiotherapy route now so will have 5 days' treatment so perhaps an opportunity to bump into you. I do hope so! Gxx

I had single agent Carboplatin for my first, and I hope last, bout. Stage 1A but grade 3 cells. I did some research and found that even though the oncologists in the US like to add Taxol in, three international studies showed that single agent Carboplatin was just as effective, and far less toxic, than the combo.

So my situation was different but as far as chemo goes, it’s probably the easiest to tolerate. In fact it is even unusual to lose your hair. Best of luck.

I had Carboplatin only for my initial treatment. I had it every 3 weeks and tolerated it very well with no hair loss.

So sorry to hear this. I am now facing 2nd recurrence. Also not heard of carbo on its own so will now ask my oncologist. Sending big hugs from Australia and hope all goes well for you.
