Hi all,

My CA125 has risen as follows 6, 11, 14 and I’m getting very worried and stressed . Anyone have similar elevations without recurrence. Diagnosed with high grade serous stage 3c . Finished front line chemo in January 2017.

Hi Dollie,

Please don’t worry - these would be considered ‘normal’ fluctuations for CA125 (by medical staff). In fact, below 35, no one will worry at all!

Mine is much higher (still under 35) and it keeps changing (every test) because our bodies are fluctuating all the time. CA125 is a measure of inflammation in the body as well (which is annoying/confusing for us OC ladies!).

Best wishes,

Linda x

Thanks Linda. Hope you’re right. I’ll get it rechecked in two weeks for peace of mind

Is your GP happy to arrange your CA125 Dollie?

Don’t let your worry rob you during your period of remission.

(I know it’s hard, believe me! I have just finished my x18 Avastin infusions. My CA125 is 25).

Symptoms are much more important to take note of.

Yes GP seems happy enough. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!

Hi I also finished treatment same time as you for stage 3.

My recently jumped from 11 to 22 but no one batted an eyelid!

Oncologist said anything from 0-35 is normal.

She said she would retest if it went above 35.

Makes you jittery though doesn’t it. Xx

Hi my lovely,

CA125 does fluctuate my special person’s usually fluctuates when her cancer is dormant. You are still well within normal range so please try not to worry. Is your CA125 a good marker for you? Xx

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Yes it is a good marker as hugely elevated when diagnosed.

Okay well just make sure they keep an eye on it but I’m sure its nothing to worry about and if you’re still worried by the next one ask them to do a scan and see what’s going on xxx

Mine has recently fluctuated too. 11 then up to 29, back to 22 and now back to 11. I had constipation issues at the time, onc thinks it was related.

Hi Dollie

For someone like me with a count of 8000 on diagnosis any reading below 35 is magic. I do realise that many women’s count is below normal when scans show otherwise . This is why oncologists don’t totally rely on it . For many women if there is a doubling of the count at the next check it rings warning bells. Take care

Molly is right. Don't pin all your hopes and fears on the CA125. I fell into that trap. It is scans and symptoms that tell the true story. Good luck xxx

Hi Dollie. Just to say I agree with the others but if it keeps climbing and you are worried, you could ask for a ct scan. All the best. Maus.
