Never in my life have I experienced such pain . All the right side of my leg feels like electric shocks when I put my foot on the floor but also just resting it is painful.

My oncologist says it’s sciatica !! I’ve never had this before starting chemotherapy !!!

I’m now on 30/500 co-codomol x2 4 hourly and Oromorph as and when I need it !!!

I’ve cried today as the pain was so bad , anyone else experienced this ?

Hi

I’m suffering with the same pain myself, having worked as a soft tissue therapist for many years I know that sciatic pain is the worst ever!

My adivce is find a good holistic therapist perhaps Bowen Therapy, Chiropractic or Accupuncture.

Take recommendations regarding pain meds, and be your own advocate as to suitability for you. After all no one knows you better than you do! It may take some moving, but try not to antagonise the nerve if possible, rest, gentle exercise and finding a good therapist can work wonders.

My fist port of call would be the Bowen Technique a this is what works for me. Good luck, Bx

I have. I am so sorry. Sciatica pain is brutal but it does subside over time. When your pain lessons, check out some good exercises to help combat it. I have a routine I do a physical therapist recommends. I hope you feel better soon! Hugs, Jill

I had it about 4 years ago, it felt at the time like a never ending problem, but it did eventually go away. Di

I've had it on and off for years, but only once has it been as bad as you describe. Usually clears after about six weeks, but I used to go see my osteopath if it was really bad. Bowen also very effective, although best to check what type of Bowen they offer, there are three different types, and one of them is much more extreme than the other two. Acupuncture (light needling is all that's necessary, the needles should not hurt) can also be effective to help with the pain while its bad, but these days, I just stick loads of magnets on the area in the lower back where the pain comes from. Seems to work quite well, though its a bit of a drag having to re-stick them on after a shower or bath. Acumed patch magnets stick quite well, even through a shower, but are the most expensive type.

And regarding painkillers, they don't really do much for nerve pain - there are other drugs available for nerve pain, such as gabapentin or one of the amitriptylines, but they can be difficult to get off again when its gone.

I had the same, not as a result of my cancer or treatment. I know exactly how you feel. I had to use a stick as it was excruciating to even take a step. The pain ran right down to my ankle. The other comments are correct in that pain killers don’t really touch it, you need to go for physiotherapy, so they can give you soft tissue therapy and exercises to move the pain back up your leg. It is not a quick fix, and you need to be religious with the exercises. Hope this helps a Therese xx

I had sciatica when I was pregnant, it really is excruciating, I was advised to rest but just couldn’t get comfy, I found warm baths a real help although there’s only so much time you can sit in a bath. This pain will subside in time, keep taking the pain relief and like Barbara has said it may be worth seeking some therapy to help.

I hope it get better soon, gentle hugs and love ❤️Xx Jane

I had this before my diagnosis. It was awful. They tried me on amytriptalene but that was horrid- think I took diclofenac. The pain does go in the end. My husband went to a chiropractor and it worked .

Had it too, well before diagnosis and not a result of it. Mine went on it’s own, it’s painfull, I found lying straight and flat and sitting up straight, righting my posture got it gone. May have just been lucky, but hope the pain subsides soon, it can be brutal,

Love Cxx
