I hesitated before posting as I know so many ladies are having a bad time and that makes me extremely sad.. I had results of my latest scan Weds. Still NED (5 years this month) with a CA125 of below 3. The Olaparib is still working. My reason for posting is purely to give hope to some of the ladies out there maybe just starting on their 'journey' etc. Big hugs to all those going through a bad time, you are constantly in my thoughts xx Kathy xx

OLAPARIB STILL WORKING
Brilliant, congratulations Kathy, I know your posts bring hope to me!! πππ¬π xx
Thatβs great news . We all need to hear positive stories , they are out there !!
Fabulous about time someone had some good news xxx
Hi Kathy,
What an uplifting post! Congratulations and may it continue for you to be good news for a very long time. You are one of our role model for this journey. May I ask what stage you were when you were diagnosed? And have you got the slow growth or the high grade? Thanks again. Xxx
Hi Luchie. Stage 3 High grade I believe. TBH never really had it confirmed by the Onc, though later confirmed as Stage 3 by a third party who was instructed not to tell me..... I don't do wanting to know all the details, I'm not a coward but I'm a 'OK I have Cancer lets do what I need to to kick butt' I just don't do detail w2hen it comes to medical stuff lol. My coping mechanism I suppose plus I knew a fair bit my mum having had it. Hope you are doing ok xx
Great news! During my darker moments it really helps to read of others who are doing well and it gives us all hope for the future. Thank you!
This is such good news Kathy. Five years NED, especially as you have recurred in the past. A lot of ladies with such long remission have never recurred so there's hope for us all that somewhere out there, there's a drug for us all.
Hope you are going to celebrate! πΈπΎπ
You are a great insipiration to all of us. Well done.

That is great!! It gives me a lot of hope.
Thank you so much for sharing your good news Kathy. It gives me so much hope with advanced stage and Parps. Even though I'm on a different parp to you (Rucaparib), you're always my 'go to' example when I need inspiration! Best wishes to you, fab news.

Wonderful news Kathy, you are right to share. Hope for so many. Even for those of us going through the tough time, anyone elseβs good news somehow feels like a little victory for all of us if that makes sense! The hope that more and more women in future will be long term survivors of this hideous illness means such a lot. And, having tried Niraparib recently (a bit late in the day unfort) I know the PARP inhibitors are not necessarily easy and still have side effects, I hope that for you these are still manageable. Love & hugs
Madeline xx
Fabulous news! X
Great news I have been on Olaparib for 2 months now. So hopefully I will have as good a result
This is great news, and inspiring! Did you get on a parp only after a recurrence? Is the olaparib specific to brca gene? All the best!
Hi Luci. Im on a trial after my second recurrence. Originally diagnosed in October 2007. It was originally BRAC specific but they are trying it on non BRAC ladies now too. xx Kathy xx
The absolute BEST news! God bless you and thank you for sharing!
Kathy , fantastic, I'm in the US, is olaparib a daily thing you've been on. I've been cancer free also since April 2014. Next April I'm planning on celebrating 5 years. Congratulations! I'm so excited for you. β€β€Liz
Brilliant news - absolutely keep posting the positive news, it cheers everyone to hear good news. Dawn xx
Congrats πΎ πππππ
Hi Kathy - searching for info on Olaparib I came across your post, wonder if you can help, my Oncologist says that the NHS may not cover this drug. I have not yet been tested for BRAC, do I have to be positive to qualify? Many thanks Lyn xx
Hi Lyn. I am on a trial for Olaparib and have been since beginning of January 2014. Im on the trial through the Christies in Manchester. It might be worth you looking up through the Cancer Research website to see what trials are available for both BRAC and non BRAC . Are you going to have the test? Kathy xx
My oncologist seemed to loose interest regarding testing and olaparib, once she realised my private health insurance was ending soon. Instead she has suggested Avastin for a year?
Hi Lyn, I replied to you on your other post regarding Avastin. Not sure where you are based but might be worth you seeking a second oinion at the Christie if thats an option for you? Kathy xx
Thanks Kathy......I always come away from meetings with my oncologist feeling very confused. I either need a certain drug or I don't...β¦...such a shame it all comes down to money, can't say I am totally surprised. Hope you are well. Lyn x
