HI All, I hope you are as well as you can be. Cut a long story short finished 2nd line of chemo last Sept with great response went into remission April started to have vague symptoms went for results of .CA 125 and MRI today. CA normal MRI showed 2 lymph nodes in back have marginally increased . Told oncologist had problems with incisions hernia 2 days before MRI he give me 3 options watch and wait, more chemo or RAdiotherapy, but did say with problems with hernia it could have affected the lymph nodes. I have decided to be put on watch and wait for 3months with further MRI and bloods before appointment . The proviso is if I have any more symptoms to get in touch with Specialist nurse for early appoint Now worried I have not made the right decision. Any thoughts, what do you think ?????

Hi

Considering the hernia problems I think I would have made the same decision as you. They are still keeping a very close eye on you AND you have the option of an earlier appointment if needed. It’s always tricky when you have a choice like that. The only thing is it might be difficult not to imagine every twinge is something more than it probably is.

All the best

Fay

Thanks, Fay, I agree with all you have said, I a going to have to just listen to my body carefully and not reach for the phone at every twinge. Chris

I think you have made the right decisions based on the information, you’re still being monitored and can contact them at any time if you feel the need.

Good luck lovely ❤️Xx Jane

Hm it probably comes down to what feels right to you. Those decisions are difficult as there is no knowing the outcome. So you just have to be happy with what you choose. It's all based on sound medical advice though, which is good.

When my borderline / low-grade OC recurred, it came back in lymph nodes, as evident from a sharply rising CA125 and the PET CT images (no clear symptoms, albeit a few light pelvic twinges from time to time). So I decided to go with immediate surgery. But I didn't have a hernia to consider, and I was given the option of surgery.

Is surgery possible for you?

Or maybe have another scan in a few weeks (assuming no more symptoms/twinges in the meantime) and if the lymph nodes look worse, you can decide to start treatment then.

I just wouldn't wait too long between check ups, in this situation.

All the best, Maus.

HI, Hope your treatment is going well. Thanks for the advice, it doesn,t appear that surgery is an option for me . and I would have gone for more active treatment if the hernia had not been giving me problems and my .CA 125 had been raised. Chris

Thank you, Chris. I'm doing all right. 3 chemos down, 3 to go (maybe without Taxol, but need to discuss that with my oncologist after the checkup in June).

In your case (surgery no option), I would have probably made the same choice you did.

Hope all stay quiet on the lymph/symptoms front for you. Xx. Maus

Hi, With the advice from your oncologist I would ave made that choice too, if he thought you should be on treatment then surely he would have told you so, Sound like they will keep a close watch on you, try and enjoy the non treatment time and I hope it continue for a very long time... take care Lorraine xx

Hi,

I would have made the same decision as you. I was offered surveillance or chemo at my last appointment as my CA125 is now around 400, but there is still no evidence on CT of disease progression. As soon as we left the registrar, I had to ask my husband if I’d made the right decision (I decided on watch and wait). We agreed that it was the right decision!

Like you, I know I can go back anytime if I think I need to, which feels like a reasonable safety net at the moment for me.

Best wishes to you, Ali x

Ali, Arena,t decisions like this really hard to make. Part of the decision was based on my .CA 125 which was normal and it is usually a good indicator for me so I am hoping the increase in the lymph nodes is due to my hernia problems.Great that your scan was clear long may it continue. Chris

I suppose watch and wait and they are keeping a close eye on things. Obviously a small recurrence if considering radiotherapy. I am interested to know what type of radiotherapy as I have been recommended Stereostatic Radiotherapy which aims at the tumour and not the surrounding tissues/ I have had my planning scan during the week and treatment date to be confirmed.
