As you are all aware I have been having problems below right rib cage so appointment with consultant brought forward he examined me and done a CA 125 I got the results 39 he said it could be anything that is causing it to rise and I was to have it redone in a months time.
The last two weeks I have started bloating lost some weight and feeling nauseous, so hubby said to see if I can get an appointment quickly by paying privately, so was back with the consultant today.
After a thorough examination internaly he asked my husband to come in the room and told us their was something menacing that he believed was cancer at the vaginal vault, and that he would firstly biopsy it which he did there and then ( painful ) then I have to go and get a ct scan.
My question to him was does he believe I am having a recurrence, his words I am 99% sure it’s cancer but not sure if it’s the same cancer or a new cancer coming from the bowel.
He wants the ct scan done before next Friday and the biopsy back as they have an MDT team meeting on a Friday and therefore would like the results to discuss at the meeting he mentioned it maybe surgery or both chemo and surgery depending on the spread.
I haven’t cried yet or got upset I am still thinking it could be anything but I also know my body and know something isn’t right, so here’s to that horrible waiting game again.

Oh Ellsey a shock indeed. Waiting is the pits but at least he is being proactive and getting things moving. I hope you are not in too much discomfort . Sending you a hug. Kathy xx
It is a shock for you and the waiting is awful but your doctor seems to be really on the ball and isn’t hanging about. I hope the results come back quickly and that a good plan of action is put into place as soon as possible. Take care in the meantime and let us know when you get your results, big hugs and love ❤️Xx Jane
Oh Ellsey am so sorry to hear you have this worry after being NED for 18 months . This disease is so cruel . Glad that your consultant has taken control and got tests in place . Hang on in there you will have a plan soon.
Love and best wishes Kim x 💜
Sending a big hug Ellsey. Hope those results and scan come through quickly
Waiting is so very very difficult but things seem to be moving. If you’re feeling reasonably well, how about a last minute weekend away. Something to keep your mind occupied.
Hi Ellsey..that is rotten. Uncertainty is a really hard and what he said wasn’t designed to reassure. But you know what doctors are like they always tell you the worst case. Try not to let your mind go into overdrive until you have something more to go on (l am so good at this...not). You are made of strong stuff! Sending love xx L
Gosh, Ellsey! That certainly is a shock. I hope the CT can be scheduled asap for you. Well done on enduring the biopsy today - one thing that you won’t have to go back in to hospital to have done. Thinking of you. Vicki x
This not what you wanted at all. They’re on the case though and, although an operation is never welcome, at least it is on the options table. I’m so sorry you have this to worry about. You have come through a lot of hard treatment before so you know you can do it. Just would be great if we did t have to, that’s all.
Good to hear the medics are on the case but uncertainty and waiting is sh*t. Sending love and 🌺🌻🌼🌸🌹 Jo
Really sorry to hear you are in trouble but your consultant is very careful indeed. The waiting is dreadful but things are happening and I am sure there will be a plan of action at the end of this. In the meantime, try to take time out to ease your mind a little, maybe a walk anything at all to distract those thoughts we have in our minds
Hi Ellsey. Just like to add my best wishes with the other ladies, I'm glad your consultant is on the ball once you have the facts and a treatment in place you will come out fighting I know. Take care of yourself Lorraine xx
Am so sorry you are on another journey but sounds like you have an amazing doc who will get you through this. Stay strong and all the very best for results x x
Thank you for your words of support, crazy up cleaning the house at 3.40 haven’t even had the dreaded steroids yet, I am going into work today as really can’t face staying home on my own trying to double guess everything.
So sorry to read this,a shock indeed. Why don’t they listen to us when we have that gut feeling that something isn’t right. Thank God they are now acting swiftly. Thinking of you. x
Dear Elisey. Sorry that you are going through this turmoil. This feeling that something isn’t right and being courageous enough to pursue beyond the ‘it’s a virus, cold weather time of year, everyone seems to be down with something’ scenario.
I too had an appt with my consultant yesterday. I have had a couple of bouts of diarrhoea and vomiting back in Dec which put back my Avastin and picked up a virus(?) beg Jan which has left me with a dreadful cough, pain down my left side of my chest and under my breast.Three lots of antibiotics haven’t helped as I haven’t been able to keep them down.
Recent Ca125 has gone up from 19-37 but may not be significant however feeling bloated and tummy tight and bowels different pattern. Some lower back pain like sciatica too and aching legs. That might be sleeping or trying to sleep on the settee as so short of breath at times on minimal exertion.
Consultant is arranging for an urgent CT and going back next week to see him. It will be exactly 1year from first diagnosis of OC and 7 years since breast ca. Trying desperately to keep a lid on my emotions but fearing recurrence and the future on hold again. I’ll let you know how I get on.
Oh Hun I am so sorry to read this and yes the waiting is the worst. The good thing is you have acted quickly...it also seems like your doc is all over this too. So take some time to let the shock sink in...breathe...& then trust in the plan of action. We’re all here with you. Thinking of you lovely but bitterly disappointed for you too. Jemima xxx
I just want to send you a big hug and hope that they come back to you with something definite very soon. At least then you know what you're up against. The uncertainty is the worst. This must have been a horrible shock. Sending lots of love Sian xxx
Ellsey--that waiting game is the worst! I am so sorry you have to go through the worry, the wait and just not knowing. "It could be anything" probably doesn't help but if possible, try to give yourself an hour a day to "worry" then tell yourself you've given yourself the allotted time and now to enjoy your hubby, friends, home, (if the discomfort allows for that) and you will worry again tomorrow. Just a thought--I am TRYING the same when I wait for results (I always go to worst case scenario!) and starting to make progress! I wish you the same. We await word! Thinking of you.
Ellsey, can identify with the house cleaning...but take it easy....you will probably need all your physical and emotional strength as you go forward. Hopefully it is something they can treat and you will be NED again....thinking of you lots....love Chris xxxse
Did you have a local anaesthetic when they did the biopsy? This is exactly what I had a couple of weeks ago, from the same place. Have had some bleeding on and off from there since. It seems our tumours have recurred in a similar place. Mine did not show on a scan in October which appears to be because of where it is.
I'm so sorry you're in a worrying place like this. The biopsy result turn around in the NHS is no more then 5 days even if it's sent to an outside agency, so you should be able to get the results quickly. Good luck. Will be thinking of you.
Lily Anne he said he was numbing it but it hurt, he said it’s top right of vagina next to the colon. I knew for a few weeks I had vague symptoms and also had a couple of vaginal bleeding but not a lot, I will need to wait to find out where it’s spread to. Original dx was HGS 3c ppc. NED after surgery.xx
Oh,Ellsey.....I am so sorry to hear your news. Sounds like you and your doctors are on top of things.
The first recurrence is sometimes more of a shock than the original diagnosis. I am on my second recurrence now, so take heart. There are so many new treatments and trials/studies out there, and I'm sure they'll find the right one for you.
Sending hugs and positive thoughts to you and your family.....Judyved
ellsey, I had a temp colostomy after having 14" of colon removed. I'm HGS 3C OVCA. After it was reversed, scar tissue grew in the reconnected area. I have now had two major biopsy "fishing trips" up my colon. I had 17 chunks of the new tissue removed. NONE of them show any cancer, but I have had symptoms which are alarming none the less. I was even TOLD by the first colon doctor that I had cancer again! I was then referred to a second, more specialized colon surgeon. That 2nd surgeon did a second biopsy and took larger tissue samples. NONE of them show cancer. So, please, before you break your own heart with worry, consider that SOMETIMES DOCTORS ARE WRONG. Love to you, dear woman. T in Seattle
I am sorry to have read your post. To be honest I don't know why they put so much store on the CA 125, mine didn't show any abnormalities although I have stage 3c ovarian cancer. My poor nephew didn't show anything at all on his test but on having a CT scan, they found a tumour inside his chest wall and it was too late to operate, he devastatingly passed away.
If you don't feel right do not accept the test results as the holy grail of diagnosis.
I pray they get help you quickly and all will be well.
