Hi Ladies this was on our new to-night, interesting news about a blood test that will diagnose ovarian cancer in the early stage, how great that would be for our daughters and all women.,,Cheers Lorraine xx

Early blood test for ovarian cancer..💙
Yes, there was a long feature on it on the BBC Breakfast programme this morning - got to be good news to finally have a test for several cancers, including ovarian.
At least women in the U.K. Have the option of the ROKA test which was developed over 15 years of tests involving 200K women. It has proven more effective at detecting OvCa at Stages I and II at twice the rate of the standard CA-125 marker, without all the false reports of the marker alone.
It was introduced into the US, but our Food and Drug Administration decided women here shouldn’t have the option of the test developed outside their purview. Forty-four or more state medical boards had already given approval to it when the FDA unceremoniously gave the boot to the test.
Hi, it's make you wonder why when it's been proven to have some success,
here in Australia just say that there is no early test for overian cancer..take care Lorraine xx
Great , great news that they have descovered the science to do this and hopefully with early diagnosis will save many lives and lots of suffering .
Fingers crossed the next stages of trials get funding and are progressed quickly so this can be introduced in the three to five years they are talking and also in the U.K. so our daughters can benefit.
Is it too much to hope that if they have descovered the science to do this they can also adapt it to develop a more accurate test to check for reccurance.
Stay hopeful ladies .
Love and best wishes Kim x 💜
Hi Kim, It may be too late for us ladies who were diagnose too late but as I said I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters, how great that they will not have to go through what we have and it's good to see research is having results...Take care of yourself, love Lorraine xx
Have you undergone genetic testing - full panel, or at least for the BRCA 1 & 2 mutations, so they and their doctors know their BRCA status? If either parent is BRCA Positive, it is passed on to half of the children, and doesn’t skipped a generation, when it is an inherited mutation.
Oh, harpist beat me to it. Yes, we had the same good news this morning, Lorraine. Very promising. Hope all's going well for you Chemo/dentist-wise.
Love, Solange 😊
I too saw this on the BBC news, it’s encouraging that a simple readily available routine blood test could be the way forward, they did say they were able to spot 70% of cancers earlier and actually mentioned ovarian cancer amongst the others. Great news, happy Friday ladies and gents ❤️Xx Jane
Hi Jane, I was watching the news this information came on and then I looked it up on the computer, it is great news as we all know most of us are diagnose to late this simple blood will change that in the future..Plus just the fact that research is being done for early detection is good...Cheers Lorraine xx
I think it needs treating with some caution - they detected cancer in 70% of already-diagnosed cancer patients. When they tested patients who were in the preliminary stages it went down to 40%, and they haven't any figures for healthy patients. It needs a lot of work.
I am one of the 20% or so who don't get a rise in CA125, and was assured many times I didn't have ovarian cancer as a result, so I am a bit skeptical about diagnostic tests!
Hi, Thank you for posting this it is extremely interesting, especially if it can be detected early.
Hopefully its a means to an end though I thought I read that it was successful in only 40pc of cases. In time they will find the right tools but they are not moving fast enough. I know research is prolonged because of the many steps the researchers have to take. We need more information about this cancer and more drugs to send it into obvlvion
Hi Suzki , Yes lets hope it is a means to an end like all research it starts with a small step, lets hope this one take a giant leap, 40% today 100% tomorrow we can hope. I'm just glad to see that they are doing research in this area,
We do indeed need to send this cancer and all cancers into oblivion.
The good thing is new drug are being tested I'm starting a new trial this week on a new drug called Cantrixil.
Take care Suzki..Lorraine xx
I needed some hope today. This article is great news! Thank you for sharing!
Hi. It's a start in the right direction, ovarian cancer is one of the cancer which has had little research done so it's a good thing.
I'm starting a trial this week on a new drug so I hope it's successful, if so a bit more hope.
I know you have been going through a hard time I hope it's all settling down for you ..take care Lorraine xx
Yes it is great news Lorraine hope you are doing okay I’m now on weekly Taxol
Hi Cathy, Any research on ovarian cancer is good lets hope it keeps up and one day ovarian cancer will be treatable with success.
I'm doing ok I start a trial for a new drug this week I've been worried, I'm doing the right thing for me it a totally new drug and I had to come of chemo for now.
How are you handling Taxol? I hope it's gives you good results.
take care Lorraine xx
I've posted the information on this trial for you to read if your interested.
Good luck with your trial hopefully it will be successful that’s all we can do So far handling Taxol okay had the itches and a rash but taking a antihistamine every day seems to have got it under control The usual problems with the hands and feet but not to bad Very tired of course but that’s normal with most chemo Thanks for the info on the trial will check it out Hopefully the new drug doesn’t have to many side effects Will be thinking of you Take care xox Cathy
Thank you Cathy, Good luck with the taxol I'm sure you will handle it.
I had the port put in a few day back and it has been more painful then I expected, the port I have in my chest was a breeze I now have 2 port, I feel like a service station drive in and fill up.
Next Tuesday I have the first dose I'm still not sure if I'm doing the right thing my family think I am and my oncologist and my dentist and anyone who would listen so here's hoping. You take of yourself Lorraine xx
Let’s hope the the fuel they pump in does the trick it’s certainly trial and error with this mongrel disease but onwards and upwards Yes don’t know how I’d go with that other port either Will be thinking of you Tuesday That’s my chemo day to You take care and let me know how you are coping xoxo Cathy
