Ascites drainage problem

Hello everyone. I'm new to Ovacome, your posts are inspirational. My mum has recently been diagnosed with Stage4. They have tried to drain her ascites today but have said it's too thick. I'm wondering whether anyone has any experience about what might be suggested next? It seems to be delaying her having her second chemo, although she is in desperate need of it. She's so unwell and weak because she can't eat much. x x

Hello...so sorry to hear about your Mum, ascities is really uncomfortable so I feel her pain. I was drained before chemo but had no problems....perhaps try ringing the Ovacome help line- which is nurse led- you will at least get some explanation and support. In the end it is chemo that will get rid of ascities so I hope she does get it. Sending hugs to you and your Mum. Lxx

Thankyou x x x

Hi. As Lyndy said the chemo may get rid of the Ascities with out having to be drained, I was not drained when diagnosed, at first they where going to then it was left and when I started my chemo treatment it dried up, I've been very lucky it's never needed doing.

Do ring the overcome help line..hope your mum get help very soon and once she is rid of the acsities and on treatment she will feel more positive.

Take care Lorraine xx
