I’ve just been for a session for acupuncture to help sort my aching shoulders, my insomnia and my migraine. I found the whole process extremely therapeutic, including discussing general anxieties and worries. Time will tell of the actual ‘needling’ works, but in the mean time my blood pressure went down just by being in a calm and supportive situation.
My most recent anxiety inducing situation was entirely unrelated to Cancer - our house alarm went off last night and we found a burglar in our kitchen - my brave husband chased him up the garden with some very choice words, but he had broken the lock on the back door so we had the police around and then had to resort to some major woodwork to secure the house! Well, it takes your mind off the other beast for a while!
All is safe now and nothing went missing so we live to fight another day! Love and hugs to all, Ali x

Thank goodness for your house alarm and brave husband!
I’ve been having acupuncture to treat symptoms of fatigue, nausea, and headaches. I attend weekly and I’ve had 7 sessions. I think it’s helped tremendously. I feel relief immediately and for me, it lasts about 72 hours. It’s definitely had a positive effect on overall well-being. I hope you find it as valuable.
What a scary experience. Your chap is a brave man. Glad you found the acupuncture good. I had some a few years ago for a sore shoulder and it made a difference. Was very surprised to be offered it by a physio at my local hospital. I hadn’t realised it was an NHS approved treatment. Jo 🌺🌼🌻🌹🌸
Glad you feel calmer now, Ali. What a real life nightmare, though, to actually find you HAVE a burglar in the house!! Then all the work to make the door safe. Last thing you needed. Hope you had a better night, last night.
I have had acupuncture and cupping for the last 18+ years and have never had anything but great experience. Have used it for hot flashes, cancer and chemo supplementary treatment, muscle aches, colds, boost immune system and many other issues. Cannot recommend it highly enough and good to hear it helped you so much.
Thanks for all your responses. I’ll let you know how acupuncture goes. Yes Tom is brave, although when it happened about 25 years ago he was so wrapped up in the football on the TV that I was the one who came face to face with our local friendly burglar and got to chase him out of the house whilst questioning his parentage!
Thanks Lou. I think I was angry rather than frightened - in retrospect, chasing an intruder may not be the best idea, but were darned if were going to sit back and let it happened. Cindy’s comparison of the burglar and the cancer is a really good analogy - I’m angry with cancer too.
Hi Alifit, that is dreadful you poor things. The burglar could be seen like the cancer. It invades when you less expect it to, trying to take something that doesn't belong to it & leaves you shaken & in disbelief!!! The cancer & the burglar dont give a sh*t they just want to destroy lives. But we must stop these bastards from trying damaging our minds & souls our loved ones & us!!!
Thank you for posting because I am thinking about having acupuncture I did it many years a go for back pain. This time I am suffering with anxiety, insomnia, depression & very bad neuropathic pain in my bloody right hand. I am crying myself a sleep with it I am on Gabapentin but it's not really helping.
Do you pay private for this or do you receive this through your GP? I am glad it's working for you keep it up & let us know how you get on. Take care Cindyxx
I’m paying for the treatment - it’s not cheap, but if it works then I’m prepared to pay. I do feel better already - I saw my friend on Saturday before the treatment and when I saw her again yesterday, she said I had looked grey but looked much better now. I think just talking to the therapist helped too.
Check with your team and your GP to see if it is funded through your Trust. It sounds as if you need something to help.
Hi Ali, I saw my onc to day & they couldn't offer it but suggested I asked at Macmillans because they will know a acupuncturist that deals with cancer patients.
I can see its working for you good luck. Take care Cindyxx
