Hi all,

Any of you ladies out there get radiotherapy for pelvic tumour?

Did you get many doses, how effective was it and many side effects?

It looks like I may be offered this soon as treatment ( Caylex )has stopped working, ca125 going up and other symptoms on the rise. Just trying to get a handle on things. Feeling deflated.

Thank you

Hi there how are you doing? I had external rt in 2012. I had 5 weeks treatment every day. Treatment itself didn't take long. Side effects can be managed so if you are loose then cut out veggies and FRUIT for a few days to balance thing. The doctor recommended no tights or jeans and an aqueous cream for washing. My skin didn't not get sore. I was also told use Simple Baby Shower wash with Calomile. It was tiring but doable hope that helps

Suzuki, thank you for replying so quickly. Sounds lke you had a good response. I'm just trying to get an idea of what maybe ahead so it might help my head from not racing too much.

I'm worried as I feel I've done 21 chemo treatment + Avastin and am just not getting any break from symptoms or the whole hospital appointments, system etc.

It's a pain isn't it? I had done two chemo regime's before the st so this did hold off chemo for about a year or so. I had Gemzar and Avastin in 2013 finished Avastin about 20 sessions later as it was time to do so. So have got a two year break. I had c.t scan in June and ultra sound for another reason. The ultra sound was ok per my gp. I will get result of scan next Monday. Having said that I am a little worried in view of the reports of an IT systems failure in archiving results. As well I do realise that my luck can run out too

Yes I did 25 sessions of radiation therapy for two tumors. It worked for awhile but I am on a another round of chemo at the moment. It screwed my bowels up. That has taken months to settle. Good luck

Thank you for your reply. When you say it worked for awhile how long before it was on the move again?

Hope you are getting on OK with your current treatment. What are you on now.

Best wishes to you.

I suppose it gave me about 11 MONTHS maybe longer. I started Gem Avastin in Oct 2013 had Gem until end Feb 2014 then continued with Avastin until Sept 2015. Since then I have been stable. I do have pain which is attributed to hip tendonitis as inflammation only found. If it is a result of rt no one is saying. Have review next week which I am going to with an open mind. I know stable doesnt last forever but there is always hope.

I made a mistake before I actually did 15 sessions of radiation . It stabilized my tumors for about 2-3 months maybe. They aren't sure if those two tumors are active again. I have a new tumor in my lung which has become quite aggressive. That is why I am doing Caelyx and carboplatin again.
