Junk emails since joining....?

I recently joined the Healthunlocked site, and have recently started receiving a lot of unsolicited emails... I'm thinking the two are linked, and feeling quite cross about it, particularly as today's bunch include 'health insurance' and 'funeral planning'. Perhaps I missed an opt out box when signing up, but I think the mails I've had are deeply insensitive! Is it just me?

I haven't noticed this and would find it inappropriate too , I can't see it being this site honestly . Cookies on the web are very sophisticated these days and they are able to target specifics to your internet use sad but true . For example you look at a car or search for a car on the web that sends out a beacon so to speak to tell others your looking for a car hence lots of emails about cars .... I hope some of that makes sense .xxx

I've had those too, but didn't put 2 and 2 together... they all go into my junk folder, along with the ones for viagra and women looking to hook up with my husband 😂😂😂

I just delete them, but if they have originated from data being shared from here, that is *very* insensitive.

Hi there, till you bought this up I didn't notice it. Things are poping up since I have been on here. Mainly things related to health.

The other day I was on my tablet looking at kitchen flooring. Since then little pictures of floor tiles & advertising based on kitchens keep coming up.

I am sorry this has happened to you. I hope it won't stop you from using this site. We are very friendly & are here to help each other. Take care Cindyxx

I guess it's possible it's related to my search history in recent weeks rather than this site. It just seems very insensitive when people are at their most vulnerable

I cant say I have had this experience, in fact I have to log on to Health unlocked because I am not receiving any emails from them re posts. I get the usual junk mail too but block and delete, it might come back again next day under a different address but I keep blocking as you should do with anything unfamiliar

Girli, I joined over a year ago and have NOT gotten any junk mails associated with this site or these topics. The US Congress just made it legal for ANY internet site a person visits to SELL information gleaned from that user. This is horrendous as it now makes every single place you visit on the web allowed to sell your information. (Thank you Trump! Don't worry, we'll impeach him, indict him and send him and his cronies to jail, eventually.)

Hi girlie1969, I don't believe this is anything to do with Healthunlocked, I've been here quite some time and have never received e mails like the ones you have described. It's probably pure coincidence and you may have liked something elsewhere that has triggered these e mails. Have you googled ovarian cancer and any associated topics, sometimes this type of searching can generate information from unsolicited sites. Hope you get this sorted very soon and that we continue to hear from you here. ❤️Xx Jane

Dear Girli1969

I'm very sorry to hear that this has happened since you joined HealthUnlocked. As the other members have said, it may not be related, but I will raise your concerns with the HealthUnlocked team and let you know the feedback I receive from them regarding this issue. I hope this won't stop you from using the forum in the meantime. If you have any other queries or concerns you'd like me to raise, please do get in touch.

Hi girli1111 ,

I'm sorry to hear you are receiving these insensitive junk emails.

I wanted to reassure you that HealthUnlocked never gives out any personal information, including email addresses, to anyone. Our site is anonymous and the only way that these third parties would gain your email address from our site is if you shared it in a post. These companies use "Bots" to trawl the internet picking up email addresses, which is why we ask our users to never share personal information on the site and we make sure any that is shared is removed as soon as possible.

I hope this eases your concerns. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at support@healthunlocked.com

Kind regards,

Maddie

Thank you for that clarification. It seems it must be an unfortunate coincidence in that case.
