Berberine in the treatment of ovarian cancer
Not specifically for OC, but I do know of it being used in treating cancer generally. I think it works by doing something to sugars, doesn't it? (Sorry, can't view link at the mo!). I'm taking metformin which is the medical drug for diabetes but is supposed to have similar effects to berberine.
Makes for interesting reading. Ty for sharing x
Interesting. Just googled it & it is widely available but not well understood or regulated. Some Chinese herbs are not pure & can cause issues.
Looked at side effects for Berberine on a diabetes update blog & it again suggests metformin which is safe & respected. I do see this everywhere now, (since enrolling with COC) & I hate to harp on, but even one of my professors conceded metformin 'has merit.'
I did a lot of research on and there is a lot of available info. The one thing to be hyper aware of is that it contains phytoestrogens which can be highly risky in ovarian or hormonal cancers. Speak to your oncologist before you take it in case. I asked mine and that can advise.
thanks, everyone, for your comments/feedback!
