Well there was no need for me to " fight my corner" yesterday when I saw my Oncologist. I was having a bad day physically and it was apparent to her . But to my surprise she has given me another week to get some strength back in order to have another go at Chemo next Friday. Her Registrar examined me and said I have no fluid anywhere. However today I have been very short of breath and my midriff is quite swollen. I am determined to stick it out until the morning, when if there is no improvement , I will ring my GP. A & E is out of the question. No way am I well enough to sit there for hours on end.
Lots of hugs to every one,
Gill. X.

you probably wouldn't have to if you pick your time before the Friday night rush! If you aren't happy,do what you have to do,sometimes a swollen abdomen is due to wind or in my case too much bread, potatoes or pasta,so I am now avoiding it all and being short of breath in my case is working on my fitness and Im fine.
However, take advice if there is anything you are worried about,
Glad you have got a little respite and I hope you do recover soon... When I was having similar symptoms I too thought that a&e was not for me I was in so much pain ... I did ask what the clinicians would have done with me if I had attended and was told emergency op which I'm glad never happened .... My midriff was also huge and struggled to eat... I found being propped up on loads of pillows helped me a bit with the breathing but it's scary and that made it worse I think .... Try to relax and rest give yourself chance to heal a little and if course ring your GP to come visit you .... Sending you a massive hug sweetheart ❤️💪🏻💪🏻And wishing you strength to cope and get through this x
Hi Gill, well that is fair enough although I am sorry you are ill this evening/ Hopefully it is just wind and not fluid. Perhaps get emergency gp tomorrow if you are not right. Do mind yourself and eat small amounts more often which are easier to manage than big meals. If seeing you gp tomorrow you might mention the Fortesip drinks which give you protein and energy. Best wishes
Sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable and the other ladies have given lots of good advice.
I know what you mean about the idea of A&E but I have to say when I went there a few weeks ago with very worrying abdomen pain and swelling they were brilliant. The general waiting time was 3 hours but on ce I had seen the triage nurse (after just 20 mins) I was taken straight into a cubicle, seen by a doctor and was up on the ward within the hour.
I may have just been lucky but I was told that they always take cancer symptoms very seriously and will fast track you whenever possible. So my advice would be if you need to do go to A&E and I think you maybe pleasantly surprised .
My problems turned out to need surgery but they settled my symptoms and I was allowed home the next day. Now I am waiting for a surgery date. The staff on the ward were all excellent and very caring. They reassured me and helped me understand what was going on. Plus I had 24 hrs of enforced rest!
