Hi i also had carbo/taxol after surgery and had 8 months then reccurance in june and am now on gem/carbo finding this course bit tougher... had chemo stopped yest after reaction from carbo i managed to do over half the dose...sending u hugs xxx
Hi Btte, there are other chemos out there and I would ask the question why you are getting the same again. Can you ring the CNS or gynae liason nurse. There is Gem or Gem/Avastin which I had on third round and which worked well for me. Maybe your onc feels you will have response. Do ask get in touch and ask them what other options are there. Its certainly worth a question or two
Thank you Suzuki I have had carbo/gem 2nd round unable to have avastin as I have Crohns , 3rd round carbo/caelyx which gave me the longest time out 16months. I will ask the question but I was hoping that maybe some one here has had carbo/PAC repeated and had a good result.
I really hope someone will help you out of this, there must be someone who has had this combo, sending you best wishes
Hi Bridie - yes I'm currently having that regime for 3rd line; last had it after op in 2014. Only managed 8 months remission before the beast was back - was treated with Caelyx which gave me 6 months. Not brilliant odds I know but hey I'm still here enjoying life etc.
If this helps my onc explained to me that carbo/ taxol is the gold standard for treatment and I've always managed to achieve NED each time. He doesn't like to repeat it within a 12 month period as response is much lower so I guess if your response is good and no adverse reactions that's why they've suggested it.
My ca 125 at start of treatment this time was 600 odd with a rise up to 750 after 1st dose which sent me into a mini meltdown! Now after 4 doses my ca 125 is down to 53.
Hope this helps - sending much love xxx
Hi Bridie
I just want to say that I was disappointed that I wasn't offered that combination for my recurrence after 5years as it obviously worked very well first time. I am just on carboplatin and it does worry me that it may not work so well on its own. As someone pointed out in one of your reples, it is the gold standard of treatment. Is it just a case of different doctors trying different methods ? At my third chemo Mon week I intend to ask once more. I have a CNS who leaps in and answers questions intended for the oncologist. I will let you know the outcome. I hope you make the right decision for you.

That's great Bridie
That lovely girl who calls herself Hairless Beauty on the site does a beautiful range of headgear for chemo patients. As well as the ones you had before you could treat yourself to some of hers. I was so convinced I was having the taxol I was already planning my wig style ! Now I'm not even sure what's going to happen. I may lose it or it may get thinner ! Nothing has happened after 2 doses but I may end up like a mad scarecrow yet ! Good luck Bridie
