Not visited, but emailed after the last flurry of interest on this site a few days ago, with my disease details and all I'm putting in place in terms of exercise, rest and eating,. I had a reply within 24 hours suggesting I could consider Metformin and statins so I will be chatting to my GP when we meet in mid-August.

Thanks Lesley - I spoke with my GP and she said she would have no objections to me investigating further.

Hi, if you read my last post, that's where I thought I was going last Thursday. I am going to speak to them this week .

The nurse I spoke to said they were having sone success with brain cancer and I read about 6 months ago in The Mail that a lady had a tumour reduced with breast cancer.

I will know more when I go up.

Hi I went last September with my high grade serous OCstage 3 . I started the protocol of Metformin, Statin and alternate months of antibiotics. I coped with the protocol well but it needs a few months to bed in before thinking that there are results. Unfortunately my cancer reared its head in the January and I started chemo again.

My oncologist was supportive of me using it as a stand alone treatment but not as additional to chemo.

My GP was considering prescribing when he knew want the dosage was.

I think we each have to find out for ourselves, as otherwise it will always be at the back of your mind 'what if'.

It's expensive, especially when my husband knew how much the actual drugs cost base price from the drug companies!

All the best Dawn

Hi Dawn - thanks for your reply. Was wondering why can the drugs not be prescribed from the GP on NHS, once you know what the regime is?

I understand that it's because it's a protocol that hasn't been tested through NICE yet for cancer but some GPs are willing to give it a go.

There is apparently a cancer research trial on Metformin that's started I think Manchester....but can't swear to that.
