Hi, my name is Ann and I've had high grade serous ovarian cancer for 2 1/2 years. I was diagnosed in Nov., 2014. So far so good. I broke my foot in January so I can't get around since it is not healing. I'm 71 almost. I wish the best to all of you!!

I also have high grade serous but only 3 months post chemo and diagnosed stage 4 but NED after surgery so now on Avastin and keeping everything crossed .
Sorry to hear you have broken your foot and it is not healing . Do you have some support at home to help you ?
Hope your foot starts to improve soon and you can start getting out and about again. Love and best wishes Kimx
Thank you Kim, I appreciate your sweet message!! I have my husband helping me; he's a jewel and I couldn't live without him. Being NED after surgery is very good. Sounds like you had a good doctor!! I know you will do well!! The nurses when I had chemo said attitude is a big part of doing well and I believe that. You take care and I will be thinking of you and wishing you well!!
Love and a big hug to you, Ann
Welcome to the site, sorry about your foot have you checked to see if you may have osteopenia since its not healing, it is a possibilty. Otherwise you seem to be doing well
Pretty kitty, Yoshbosh!! Thank you for the welcome!! I think I'm going to have a bone stimulator for my foot; maybe that will help. Thanks for the welcome!!
Hi Ann and welcome to our lovely support group. Everyone on here is amazing, glad you have found us. Hope you get your foot sorted out very soon, keep posting! Anne x
Hi Ann, welcome to our lovely group I'm pleased you've joined us, we're a nice bunch and there's always somebody here who can help, not too sure if we can help with your foot though 😊, I hope it heals very soon for you. Well done on beating the disease this far. I too was diagnosed in 2014 and still kicking its but. Good luck with the foot and best wishes for a speedy recovery, keep in touch ❤️Xx Jane
Hi Annishope, Very sorry you're here, but very glad you've found us. (I'm 3C currently in remission.) I've found that proper nutrition is absolutely essential for healing to take place. You're probably already eating organic, macro nutrients and little sugar. What has worked for me is organic eggs, salmon, chicken, fresh vegetables and fruit, avocados and I eat a lot of nuts every single day. The quality of your food can rebuild your immune system and help you to heal better. Sending you happy thoughts, Tesla
Thanks for the welcome!! I'm glad I found you, too!! Yes, I think it's important to eat right, too. I eat all the kind of things you do and I like nuts too!! It's been 2 years since I finished chemo and my platelets and white cells are still not normal but I was told that they may never be normal. Thank you for the happy thoughts and I'm sending some to you as well.
How did your first chemo go? I didn't have too bad a time with it myself but I know some do. I hope it went well for you!! You can talk to me anytime if you have a problem or are having a tough time with something. I'm sure my foot will eventually heal one way or another and thanks for asking!
Hi Ann. Pleased to see the warm welcome you've received. The lovely ladies were very kind to me too when I joined earlier this year and it helps to know that there are others who truly understand what it's like to live with this b****y disease, the rollercoaster ride of treatment, the effect on our loved ones and the psychological day to day battles. Do hope your foot heals soon. Best wishes Jo 🌺🌼🌸🌹🌻
I think I didn't press submit reply when I wrote you yesterday. I sure appreciate the welcome!! Sorry that we both had to join but sure do love the ladies in this group!! They've been wonderful to me as I sure they were to you.
Hello Ann, welcome to our club, the one that none of us really wanted to be in but ...
I'm so sorry your broken foot is not healing for you. That must be making things difficult for you. Were you treated by an A&E doctor or have you seen an orthopaedic surgeon? If you haven't, I strongly recommend you ask to see one.
Great news that you are still going strong on the Ovarian Cancer front. I too have high grade serous, diagnosed in June 13.
Hope you see some improvement in your foot soon. All the best. Ann xx
Yes, You're right about it being a club none of us wanted to be in. But all of you are so strong to come together to help each other and I am happy to be a member of such a group. I am seeing a Podiatrist right now. He's ordered a bone stimulator to help the bones heal and if that doesn't work; I suppose it might need surgery. I hope your treatment is going well for you.
Welcome to the club! The ladies on this site are brilliant and will try to give assurance and answer any questions you may have from their own knowledge and experiences.
Hi Ann and welcome, sorry to hear about your foot! If it's not one thing ....
really hope it starts improving soon or you can get another medical opinion on it. Brilliant on the OC front, long may it continue. It's still hard some days I'm sure so it's good to know there is this group of lovely ladies on hand for advice and empathy. I'm nearly 3 years on from diagnosis, sadly in my case it recurred after 9 months and then again, but I am still on treatment and managing to live fairly well and appreciating all the little things as well as the big.
Take care and good luck getting your foot sorted, it must be very limiting.
Yes, it's true!! I'm doing good so far with the OC but I'm a real fighter, too. I've had a heart attack 15 yrs. ago, kidney disease, diabetes, breast cancer and more but I made it through and I'm still dealing with most of them. I'm sorry you're still dealing with this monster of a disease. One never knows when it will return as well you know. You take care as best you can and I'll always be there for you!!
Welcome Ann! You could not have come to a better place for understanding, sympathy, kindness and a great deal of knowledge than here with this great bunch of Teal Sisters, carers and loved ones.
I can sympathize with your agony over your broken foot. Since diagnoses in 2015 I have broken 3 toes and jammed my large metatarsal so badly I thought it was broken. I am a known klutz.
Hugs to you and please, know we all have been there, done that. Reach out if needed.
Hey, "Klutz" is my middle name!! You, too!! I appreciate the nice welcome and believe you that you are a caring bunch. This is the first place I would turn to when I needed someone to talk to. Thanks a bunch!!
Hugs to you too, Ann
Hello Anne
Welcome to the group. All the ladies are so lovely and really help me. Hope your leg sorts itself soon
Thanks so much for the welcome!! Everyone has been so nice!! I'd much rather have a broken foot than some things that I can think of. That thought keeps me from complaining too much--maybe just a little.
Thanks for the welcome!! The foot only hurts if I take off the boot and try to walk on it--ha ha. I'm supposed to get a bone stimulator because it's not healing because of osteoporosis!! Hope you're doing well!!
Hi Ellsey, Thank you for the kind welcome!! I'm supposed to get a bone stimulator which is supposed to help my bones heal. I'm trying to stay positive!!
Best wishes , Ann
Hi Ann. Good to hear from you. We have a few things in common. I'm serous high grade, diagnosed Nov 2011 (3c) & currently in my 2nd remission. I too am 71 (almost) and I've had a very sore foot for 9 months now. Just had an MRI on it & I'm told it's osteoarthritis & as such, I'm stuck with it ! I'm still planning on it healing ! - you know, never accept those negative diagnosees (don't know how to spell the plural). I'm limping around, so still getting stuff done but it's a shame to put the dampers on my beautiful remission. I have the occasional day that is better than past ones, so I calculate that if I can have 1 good day from time to time, why not lots of good days - leading to recovery ! Don't you agree? Best wishes. Pauline.
Yes, Pauline, every good day is a gift and I'm fortunate to have had mostly good days. I refuse to call these days in a wheel chair bad days. They're just good days when I can't be active. Yes, we have a lot in common. When is your birthday? Mine's May 17. You said you were almost 71, me too. I also have arthritis---psoriatic arthritis. It's mostly in my hands and knees so far. It comes and goes. Sorry that your foot is hurting. You never know it could it could go away in spite of what the doctors say. If I could take it away I would!!
Hi again Ann. I'm June 6th. So happy birthday for Wednesday ! What is psoriatic arthritis? I haven't heard of that. I never thought I'd get old ! Always on my feet and flitting about. Always taken for 10 years younger. Now I catch a glimpse of my reflection & have to remind myself that it is in fact me. But I still plan to get rid of the limp. Good luck to you with getting back on your feet too.
Thanks for the happy birthday!! I do know what you mean about seeing the old lady in the mirror. In my mind I don't feel any different than when I was 30. One day about a year ago my husband and I were walking out of the grocery store hand in hand and someone tapped me on the shoulder and it was a young woman and she said "'you two are so cute". It was the same thing that I had thought when I'd seen an old couple holding hands and still in love. It was the first time I'd seen how others see me. Psoriatic Arthritis is somehow related to psoriasis which I have. When it flares up it itches sooo bad. I have it bad on my arms. I sometimes scratch it till it bleeds. I was just diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last fall. I've had psoriasis much of my life. I really don't know how it differs from regular arthritis because one can have psoriatic arthritis without having psoriasis. Good luck to you in getting rid of that limp. Does it hurt a lot when you walk?
Thank you everyone for the very nice welcoming!! If I missed answering anyone: I didn't mean to. You are all so wonderful and I hope that I can be as helpful as all of you are. I wish all of you the best of wishes!!
