Delayed chemo

Should have had cycle 6 last Wednesday but due to blood platelets they cancelled it. As we are going in holiday in two weeks time just for one week oncology said I can have my treatment as soon as I come back. This would make it seven weeks since I've had chemo. As anyone else had a 7 week break from treatment? X

Hello yes I had a 7 week break due to uti and kidney infection plus low blood and platelets I have only just had my 6th cycle today it's taken me 8 months instead of 6 in the end, but my onc wasn't worried at all he said the first 4 are the most important which I managed to do before the blood etc went low hope this info helps put your mind at ease a bit and you have a good holiday, best wishes Yvonne.

Oh Yvonne, thank you so much for your response. You have put my mind at ease.  Not due to see my oncologist until the day before we flight out. And I was beginning to get concerned. As you know the big C never leaves your mind. 👍

I've just done the same as you, couldn't have chemo as wbc too low. Rather than having it just before holiday and feeling rubbish I missed that cycle and hada 6 week break. My oncologist was more of the opinion that I'd had 2 good chemos under the belt and they would continue working whilst I was on the break. I have faith that she wouldn't have agreed to me going if she had any concerns about taking that break

Enjoy the holiday

Thank you Dawn for responding to my question. Put my mind at ease. This journey is like a roller coaster.

Have a lovely trip and yes this is like a roller coaster but the time difference in treatments shouldnt make a difference, enjoy the holiday
