Many have to delay their treatments until blood counts come up. Read on here that some people get injections for low white cell count bur have never experienced that personally. Hopefully your mum will get her 3rd chemo soon.
I had lots of delays due to low bloods during my first line. I had to have blood transfusions on 2 occasions. The bloods usually get better after a week which will let mom have her chemo.
There is an injection, I think called G-CSF, that is used to help. Have a look at the McMillan site for more info.

This happened to me when I came for my third chemo session. After that I was always given injections and though my cells stayed low, no more sessions were postponed. Hope this gets sorted out for your mum.

No they just have to leave the bloods come up by themselves, it happened me this time last year with Gemzar and Avastin but the bloods came back up without any intervention ie injections or transfusions. Try and make sure your Mum is eating plenty green veg as that will help and also liver and plenty of rest
Hope all goes well for you Mum. I too had to postpone a treatment due to blood test. It's quite normal and usually they wait for it to be right or may treat you to boost your blood. Seem to remember I had a blood transfusion the one time.
It's worrying for everyone concerned and you just want to get on with it but we need to trust that they have our best interests in mind.
My white blood cells kept falling as nd on one occasion I went from a 3 week interval to 8 weeks. I also had a couple of shorter delays too due to the same problem. I still got a good result at end of treatment though so don't worry too much. Green tea is good. Ann x
Sorry to read about your Mum. In relation to deferred treatment - it has happened to most of us at some stage and it gives our bodies some time to recover. I get injections for low white blood cells and for bone marrow to fight infections - I give them to myself every 24 hours after each chemo session and so far, no deferment of treatment.
So don't worry too much about the delay in any treatment. Best wishes to your mother.
My Mum had her 2nd Caelyx (2nd line) on Friday. It was touch and go whether the chemo would go ahead because her white blood cell count was a bit low. After the chemo she was told she would need the Lenograstim injections. (Her heart sank but I suspected she'd need them). She had them on a couple of occasions during her initial chemo (Carbo/Tax if I remember correctly!) and when she had the fourth injection she was violently ill and ended up in A&E being sick with the pain. One of the side effects can be rupture of the spleen. So, she had her third today and has explained how ill the fourth one makes her. I wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar. Mum is 78 but a very active person but she is starting to feel really down and is having a lot of pain and I really worry about her giving up. Her first three month check back in October showed that her cancer cell count was 'back to normal' then in Jan the CA125 had rocketed to over 355 with 'small amounts' of cancer showing 'near' pancreas and lymph glands. It's left her numb and she's not feeling as positive a she was. I live over 200 miles away so only see her around once a month so find that difficult. I have a sister nearby which is reassuring.
