yes it will be a urine sample. You can pick up pots from your GP surgery’s reception. You don’t want to put it in any empty food containers it needs to be sterile ideally so to not effect the results.
If you don't manage to get a pot don't worry they asked me to do a sample at the hospital. They will have plenty there and it's just to dip test to check for signs of infection x
GP receptionist agreed,, said people often don’t know what ‘specimen’ is required, but confirmed most likely a urine sample and gave me a pot 💚 thanks for all the tips folks.
The NHS and its total lack of communication again. They should provide you with a small pot (sterile, and one that can be properly labelled). And how much more effort would it have been to type "urine sample" rather than "sample"? It would have saved you a lot of stress and anxiety!
please don’t have a pop at the NHS , there are enough politicians doing that and running it into the ground. If we were in the US we would be paying horrendous amounts for our treatment or paying high insurance prices.
I agree we are very lucky to have free at the point of delivery care. Especially considering the private contract costs. My last MRI was in a lorry trailer in the car park done by outsourced medical company. I dread to think what that cost with gadolinium contrast.
It's the politicians' fault, but that doesn't alter the fact that communication between NHS and patients is abysmal. I wasn't having a pop at the NHS, just at the fact that it's on its knees and getting worse.
Seriously , in the grand scheme of things it’s a very minor niggle, how difficult was it for reganallotment to ask the question ? I worked in the health service for 37 years and I can tell you that no matter how hard we try , it’s never enough. good communication is way down the list for stressed , overworked and underpaid NHS staff !
is this aimed at me? I think you have misunderstood me in that case, I didn’t understand what my letter from the hospital was asking and asked here for advice, I didn’t complain! I just asked what people experienced in dealing with Gynaecology departments thought the letter meant as I have never done any of this before. It was easy, and yes I could have asked at the GP too. I thought this was a helpful safe place to ask questions? I get your points about supporting the NHS but I don’t understand the need for such a reaction in response to my asking this question. 🤷🏽♀️
