Is taking low dose aspirin whilst on chemo not advisable??

There was another post re this yesterday. I think its really up to your oncologist to decide if you can take it or not. One of our bloggers who is off treatment recommends taking ibuprofen as she does, Aspirin can irritate the tummy so really it is a medical decision.
Like Suzuki says, I do think this is for the medics but there's no harm asking. Xx
I have been taking low dose aspirin since diagnosis over 3 years ago and continued to take it during chemo having discussed it with my consultant.I take daily lanzoprazole to protect my stomach.
Anti inflammatory drugs such as iprobufen are also hard on the stomach and if used regularly need to be accompanied by a drug such as lanzoprazole.
Hi, check with your Dr's but i was told to continue with my 75mg daily Aspirin dose while on my chemotherapy , I was only told stop for 2 days prior to the surgery due to bleed risk.
Hi Hope. I can only tell you what happened with me but the medics are the only people who can give you the reason. I have been on 75mg of aspirin for many years due to high blood pressure etc. As you probably know it is a blood thinner and is supposed to prevent strokes . I was told to stop taking them almost as soon as I was diagnosed and as far as I can recall remained off them until I completed treatment. I didn't ask them why . I just assumed that in case I needed an operation it is better not to be taking them so that your blood can clot. I recently had a colonoscopy and had to come off them for a few days before.
Hope this is of some help
