Saw my consultant today over the start of chemo , he said as mine was at an early stage I am only having Carboplatin for an hour every session and as he told me in his words it’s “mopping up “ anything they didn’t see during my operation so fingers crossed 🤞 x

Update on chemo
That’s good news Cazy1010. Carboplatin as a single agent is quite mild, you won’t lose your hair and hopefully you will stay well, if a little tired.
Obviously I am saying that having had carboplatin/ plaxitaxel for first line and then carbo on its own…so my perspective may be slightly different but I am sure you will find it do-able xx
Dear Cazy!
That’s as good as you could have wished…..I’m sure it’ll all be doable, you’ll get through this! No w, take a moment to relax a bit and enjoy a treat for yourself!
Love Wendy xx
this is a positive step! Xxx
That sounds like a helpful and hopeful thing to hear at the start of your chemo. How did you find the session? Hoping you’ll stay well and be able to allow yourself the time to rest up x
Sounds really positive. Hopefully you can close the door on this unfortunate episode once your chemo finishes.
Best wishes, Martine xx
That’s very positive news and you won’t lose your hair and shouldn’t get neuropathy!!!
Thank you for your update Cazy, and to the other forum members for sharing their experiences.
Many members have shared that carboplatin doesn't cause hair loss. Whilst it's true that complete hair loss with this treatment is uncommon, Macmillan explain that 'Your hair may get thinner. But you are unlikely to lose all the hair from your head. Hair loss usually starts after your first or second treatment. It is almost always temporary, and your hair will usually grow back after treatment finishes.' This information is taken from this page on their website, which also has more useful information about carboplatin: macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf....
If you would like more information about carboplatin, do have a look at this page on our website: ovacome.org.uk/chemotherapy.... This page is from our chemotherapy booklet, which we can also post to you if you prefer?
As always, if you would like to talk anything through, please do get in touch with our support team. We’re here Monday-Friday 10am-5pm on 0800 008 7054 or via email: support@ovacome.org.uk.

Hi Caz,Fab news, good luck with the chemo and hopefully as your only having carboplatin side effects will be minimal
Hi there. I had only Carboplatin when I was diagnosed 26 years ago with early stage ovarian cancer and although I had a few side effects I didn't loose my hair and I haven't had any problems since, so it was worth it.
Hope it goes well and be kind to yourself. It can be tiring but treat yourself just before your next session so that you have something to look forward to rather than just going up to the hospital.
All the best
That's great news! Did he say how many sessions you'd need?
I had surgery followed by 6 cycles of carboplatin only. That was 2006 and I've been cancer free ever since. Wishing you the same success!
I’m currently on round 5 of 6 carboplatin, (had treatment this morning!) like you a mopping up exercise after some spillage during surgery. I have had some nausea, can be very tired, a little bit of constipation and heartburn and I have had treatment delayed for a week twice because of low neutrophils/wbc (round 3 and 4) but generally not as bad as I thought it would be and often I’m walking in and leaving before those that were already in there so I do feel very fortunate (if that’s the right word). I haven’t lost my hair but it has thinned slightly but nothing too obvious. Hope this helps, good luck with your treatment 💜
