Hi all, I'm new here, just a general question, I had an abdomen ultrasound today as a previous CT scan showed my spleen was enlarged. Ive been having pain around left rib, general short stabbing pain, and general abdominal pain. My sonographer didn't give anything away when doing my scan and she just said to make an appt with my GP sometime next week.
Is this normal? Do I need an appt I thought I could just ring for my results like blood tests etc.
many thanks for reading.
Abby.

HI Abby, I actually have never had one of these ultra sounds. My onc depends on ct scan and ca125 and general well being, Your spleen could be enlarged for a number of reasons but best wait and talk to your doctor next week. No point in speculating what it could be. It may not even be cancer unless you have already been on treatment. Try and take your mind off this until your appointment as worry gets us nowhere, we just get tired and weary from it. Focus on doing something different and treat yourself in the next few days. I do understand you are concerned, it is natural reaction to tests and doctors and the lot. I wish you well and I hope that things will work out for you. The hardest part is waiting for the next appointment.
I think it's good to see your GP as they can interpret the scan result for you. I don't think many people get the results straight away from the person who does the scan.
Hope the results are nothing to worry about.
