I’m new to the group and was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for a Transvaginal Ultrasound result.
It has been two weeks today and I have not received any news from my gynaecologist who booked the scan for me. Am I being impatient?
The lady doing the scan could see what she thought looked like a 5cm cyst on my left ovary but I am yet to know for sure what it is. Getting a little anxious waiting.

Hi When I had this prior to diagnosis I was booked in for further tests immediately. I would chase this up with your GP ASAP. Don't be afraid that you are bothering them with this, this is your body/life and you need to get this resolved ASAP. do you let us know you get on xx Best Wishes, Kathy xx
Katmal-UK thank you for your response. So could it be that my results are nothing to worry about seeing as I have not heard anything or does this not mean anything?
I rang my GP today they have not yet had the results from the hospital so I rang the hospital. By the time I rang it was 5pm so I was to late to speak with the Dr dealing with my ultrasound results so have been told to ring again tomorrow.
I have been suffering for 8 years with pelvic pain and still yet to find a diagnosis. I thought maybe the cyst is the reason I have been suffering all of these years but 8 years ago I also had an abnormal smear CIN 3 where I had treatment and all came back clear after but since I have been very up and down and getting worse over time.
I feel better that I have been referred after all of these years but a little disappointed that I am still having to wait around to find out what’s going on I thought this would be a quicker process.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get some answers. Thank you Kathy xxx
It could indeed be good results given the time they are taking, but it would be nice for you not to have to keep worrying. lets hope youget the results soon xx
I have contacted the hospital today as I am now getting a little impatient. It’s been nearly 3 weeks. I have to ring them again tomorrow as the doctor dealing with my results was not there but hopefully I can get confirmation at least that my results have been looked at and a letter is on it’s way with answers.
I just think they’d been red-flagged - yours are probably (and welcomely!) OK, which is why they’re not putting a rush on them. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. Deb x
I got mine the same day but I already had a small football sized ‘thing’ on my left ovary, I had a CT scan the following day and an MRI scan the day after. We were already pretty certain though that I had ovarian cancer as I also had hypercalcaemia which was discovered from a blood test, so I was fast tracked to get confirmation. As Kathy has said, you need to chase your results up and get answers. Let us know how this goes for you, good luck lovely. ❤️Xx Jane
Thank you Jane. I will keep you all posted. I have rang the hospital today and have to ring back tomorrow as I was to late and was not able to speak to the dr dealing with my ultrasound results.
I am so sorry to hear that your results were not very positive. I really do hope your okay now. Xxx
I had mine as part of an urgent gynae appointment, & was told the result immediately, & things were set in motion to have a ct scan & appointment with gynae oncology surgeon. I hope you get the result soon, waiting for results is so stressful. Di
