I have had a hysterectomy with one ovary removed 20 years ago and am aged 64. Every morning when I awaken I have cramp pains in my stomach.

Hi Sonia .. And welcome. These symptoms relate to a number of diseases like appendicisis, difficulties with the bile duct and/or inflammation of the gallbladder ... all kinds really. I've had both of those things. It really depends on where the pain is. You can also have more than one problem and a pain can show up in one area and actually be generated in another. It's called referred pain. The main message is that if these symptoms are bothering you, continue for ten days or more or get worse, go straight to see your GP. I would echo what Tina has said. Go and see your GP and perhaps ask for a CA125 blood test to be carried out. Hope its nothing major. Let us know. x

As Tina has said could be lots of things so you need to go and see your GP make sure you tell them about you your medical history and any symptoms that are persistent, frequent and new for you.

Hi Sonia! If you go onto the Ovacome site ovacome.org.uk and look at the BEAT symptom tracker it will give you a good idea about whether you may need to go to your GP and ask about ovarian cancer investigations. You can record and print out your symptoms over a couple of weeks and most GPs will investigate if presented with evidence that could point to OC. There are also fact sheets on the site, under the 'Resources' heading. There should be info in them that will help you to decide what steps to take. I hope it's something less scary when you go to see the GP but it's best to check, isn't it?

I think that any pain is cause for concern... whatever the reason you should get it checked out by your GP... no point in putting up with discomfort is there?
