Ive been thinking about doing this for ages, would be a solo traveller, Its at the end of september and I will have to pay the full whack if I book now. Any insurance probably wont apply if cancer throws up a problem. Do I risk it, at the mo things are stable but we all know how quickly it can change. Shall I go for it !

Hi Rosebine2I have just come back from a week writing in Southern France. I went alone, rented a car, drove mountain roads on the wrong side of the road and the heat was out of this world but I am sooo glad I did it… it really made me feel like me again.
Of course there are caveats. I decided I was just going to be upfront with everyone. My oncologist agreed, I got a GHIC card and insurance.
I would suggest you talk to the cruise company about your situation, then your team. It may be that they can give you some parameters.
But don’t be put off….where there’s a will, there’s a way.?!
Think we all risk it when we go away even in good health. You are stable and this could go on for sometime, who knows. So for me when I'm stable, I use Insurancewith (a specialised medical insurance)and that covers my cancer. It protects me. I get a quote and dependant on that is whether I go ahead with the trip.

I’d say go for it. It depends a bit on how serious the financial risk would be to you but the trips I have taken his year have been so refreshing and renewing. What do you have to lose besides the money?

Sounds lovely.Ask your oncologist about covering ,should you be poorly on holiday.All cruises are not subject to NHS care so would have to be funded privately ie insurance.I have always taken insurance as I have been concerned should I become poorly on holiday.My oncologist said always take insurance as medical bills can be high.

Go for it ! It’s impossible to live looking over your shoulder waiting for the snake to strike , but if you have some good holiday insurance , might be best to check the small print . It’s hard going after a traumatic cancer diagnosis and treatment to live life as carefree as before I know well, but joy is good for the immune system in general ! Love from me and good luck ! X
I was insured for a 2 week cruise to the Canaries by InsureWith and am on a clinical trial. I would say go for it- September is only 3 months away.
Hi Rosebine2. I agree with others - go for it. I’ve never been on a cruise before but have decided to bite the bullet and am off to the Norwegian fjords in 2 weeks and am so excited. Yes insurance is a bit pricey compared to pre-cancer but having shopped around I too have gone with insurewith as it’s a very comprehensive medical tick list to get through but covers all you need. I know it’s a cliché but life really is too short and I want to be “Sue on holiday having an adventure” rather than “Sue with cancer” if you get what I mean. As they say life is short, book the trip, buy the shoes and drink the wine. Go and enjoy

Absolutely go for it. We just returned from a cruise. Think if you’re like me, I’m stable but get days I don’t feel so great. On the cruise I missed a couple of dinners & had one day I needed to rest but otherwise had a fabulous time.
Cruising is great for solo travellers too.
I understand why you’re hesitant but when you’re feeling well, try & do things you love.

Most certainly you should book if that’s what you really want to do, if our disease has taught us nothing else it’s that we never know what life is going to throw at us so we should grab the moment and live the very best we can. We only get one go at this so make it as memorable as possible. Try to book insurance with insurancewith, they’re really good, they covered me only 6 months into remission for New York. Certainly will do. Am wondering if my surplus of anti sickness meds will be of use lol. Thinking of looking into sea bands as well 🤭 x

Hi Rosebíne, we had booked in November 2018 a holiday abroad for July 2019 but then I was diagnosed Dec 2018. We were so shocked & we were going to cancel the holiday as it was for 10 days after I was due to finish chemo. We decided No, we wouldn't as it would be something to look forward to after my 2 ops & chemo. It helped me get through the tough days & when the time came the nurses gave me a Neulasta injection to build my immune system up so I wouldn't get sick while away. I wore a mask on the plane & off I went, totally bald & with very little energy but you know it was totally worth it. I relaxed, did very little & it was so good to forget for awhile how our lives had been suddenly turned upside down. My advice to you is definitely go for it. We have all learned the hard way, life is too short so live your life to the max. I have gone every year since, even during covid because none of us know what's ahead so just treat yourself you deserve it & 🤞all will go well 🌞
Well you know my motto dear Rosebine2 ld go on my holiday, we have to enjoy life and a holiday something to look forward to. I did most things wrong to be honest went on holidays day after chemo but you know sometimes determination Can help you feel better. I know not everyone can do this if they dont feel well, so thats different
Especially when you're on your own but if you feel ok go for it. We only have one life l think but
If not lm coming back as a standard poodle hopefully. Still waiting for my second opinion appointment omg but l will get there in the end.

Hi Rosebine, have you tried HolidaySafe? holidaysafe.co.uk/ppc-trave...? I finished chemo for a recurrence in February and am on a parp inhibitor. I have an annual policy for Europe only for £94. I'm 74 and have been fighting oc for over 7 years. There was an option to add a cruise, which I didn't take and which I presume will add a premium to the quote. Don't say you're terminal as nobody knows how long we will survive! I was told 2 years in Jan 2015! I hope you manage to find a reasonable quote and have a fabulous cruise! xx Jane ⛴

Well I havent decided on insurance yet.Also talking to my kennel owners, they have a couple who have just come back from a cruise with Covid ! Bit concerning considering the cruise line insists on vaccinations and LF tests !
Oh well, September is a way off yet !

Go for it when I was diagnosed I took the bull by the horns and went on several holidays abroad I never regret it and have lots of memories see what the oncologist say xx
I’m currently NED! Where are you going and when? My husband passed 11/24/2021. Since he had retired we traveled the world. Don’t care where I’m going just looking for a travel buddy and destination doesn’t much matter. I’m HGS IV st 3c. I Love Britain and doesn’t matter where the cruise is going. Not sure where or even if…I’m in a pretty depressed place right now and hardly leave my house. No family, a couple of friends that live far away. I’m isolated for the most. My only trips out are labs and chemo. This is a crappy way to live.
Im sorry to hear about your husband, you are bound to be down as its not long ago.I lost mine 10 years ago and have no family so I know how difficult it is. I make myself go out and about, more so since my diagnosis. I do a lot of things on my own, theatre trips etc, but the thing that has helped me most is that I have always had dogs. I have to walk the dog and look after her wellbeing and she is such company for me. She is getting old and I am dreading being without her as it wouldnt be fair for me to take on another. Would a dog be an option for you ?

Just read your post and forgot to say on our cruise there were lots of solo travellers and there were lots of opportunities for them to meet up for company and also to buddy up on excursions etc so please don’t worry
