I have my first 3 monthly check up tomorrow and I'm really getting myself worked up about it..

I think it's just down to not knowing what to except from it?

What will they do will I have any test done?

Good luck tomorrow, I had an internal examination a CA125 blood test and that was it really. My consultant said that you are your own best judge of how you feel and I think he is probably right. So try and relax, I know it's hard, I have nightmares in the run up to it.

Thank you.. It's just the not knowing what's gona happen thought lol. I'm just being silly, I'm feeling really good :)

The main thing is they can see how you look, if you look well and say you feel well they may just have a chat, they may do an examination, ie, feel your tummy or do an internal to check for lumps. If the blood test show nothing untoward then its most probable they will ask you to come back in a further 3 mths. Xx

Mine consists of a BP check, internal examination, prod of tummy and a ca125 check because I'm on the Icon8 trial. As above if not on trial may not repeat ca125 and go on how you're feeling. You'll be fine! Wendy xxx

I just had a chat. Most of my follow-up appointments for two years were just that. They checked the CA125.

I'm sure you will have nothing to worry about. I bet once you get this first one over you'll feel more confident about going back every 3 months.

Best of luck. xx Annie

Good Luck. It is a bleak November day here, I hope the weather is better for you. I find it helps to take a short list of the questions you need to ask. I've been going to follow up consultations for more than 3 years now. I changed oncologists in 2010, just before I was due to see my local oncologist, who I didn't get on with well at all. I always have a blood test first, then I see the consultant. I feel stressed waiting for the blood results, so I usually leave the clinic and wander around until I know the results are ready. I then go in, say hello, ask any questions I have, give my oncologist an update on other medical issues, such as bladder infections, a spinal problem that erupted over the summer, etc.. He goes through my blood results and also other clinical issues they monitor. Unfortunately this includes weighing me, and my weight has yo-yoed a bit over the years. He then summarises his advice, dictates a letter, and I leave. Usually my husband comes too. My husband gets on very well with my oncologist, they have an ongoing banter about me, which can be embarrassing. I am lucky because now I have a good relationship with my oncologist. I trust him to deal with anything that happens as far as my cancer is concerned. That takes time, and I think it is an objective we should all share. I am also lucky because I am happily married. I find it helps to take my partner along, but this is a personal choice. Others feel differently. Best wishes, Vx

I have a CA 125 blood test and lie on my back whilst the doctor prods my tummy. I am asked how I feel and they usually run through a check list of symptoms - abdo pain etc. Do jot down anything that you want to ask, any anxieties you may have. Take something with you to read or keep you entertained as there may be a long wait.

Have a treat planned for after the clinic - shopping or a visit to the nearest wine bar :) so that you have something to look forward to.

Love Mary xx
