Biopsy yesterday

Biopsy went well yesterday eventually. After being told I was going to have a general anesthetic it was decided due to my bowel being stuck to the sides there was every chance they would perforate the bowel, therefore leaving me with peritonitus and unable to have the chemo. So they reverted to the original plan of a scan needle biopsy. They scheduled this for 1pm (I had been there since 8am). I think he managed to get 4 biopsies and said he was pleased with what he had got. I had to lie flat on my back for 5 hours once back on the ward - not easy trying to eat and drink and after being discharged arrived back home at 7.45pm. I felt only a slight discomfort and the Doctor who performed the biopsy was brilliant, he rescheduled to fit me in - otherwise it would have been a waste of a day and a further appointment. I had no pain whatsoever.

That's great, as long as no pain and they thought it doable and safer, then far better to have less drug intake - though it sounds like a long haul at 5 hours on the ward!. Fingers crossed for the result. You sound v pragmatic, but make sure you have support the next few days anyway won't you. I know you have prior experience and a,so a fairly clear diagnosis already but facing up to the reality of the whole chemo prospect a d confirmation of details can hit people in funny ways... Sure you know that. You sound determined and strong too though, which is pretty vital in coping with it all. Keep the updates coming

Glad all went well in the end and v pleased for you not painful.

Thanks Solange yes he chose 3 things - we then moved to the till otherwise he would have had more. But yes biopsy not as painful as I was imagining, everyone's body is different and you have to put up with some unpleasant things, I dare say there will be more nasties around the corner, but I will take whatever comes at me. The support on this site is second to none and I do so much appreciate people sending me blogs.

So glad that that stage is behind you. How long will you have to wait for the results? I agree with Sue about taking things easy. Come back on here and let us know how you're getting on. I am sending hugs and wishes that the results will come back quickly and will clarify the situation for you.

All the best

Glad you didn't have too bad a time with the biopsy though you must have been tired after such a long day. Keep us posted with what is happening and have a lovely day with your grandson.

Thanks Linda yes it was a long and tiring day, I am not used to lying flat on my back for 5 hours doing nothing and after waiting 5 hours before hand sitting and waiting for the procedure, will not be as anxious if I ever need another one.

Wow you do seem to take everything in your stride Joy. I'm not sure if I'd have been able to stay flat on my back for 5 hours in a busy hospital ward.

I'm so glad it went well and your back home and comfortable.

Take care. Let us know how everything goes.

Gosh that's a long day though I love how you rationalise things! I hope you had a fabulous time with your grandson and have plenty of other (not too strenuous) lovely things planned for the coming few days. Best wishes and take good care, Sxx

Thanks S yes it was a long day, but I am so glad they managed to fit me in, I felt they all bent over backwards to achieve this. I had a lovely day with my grandson choosing his birthday present and then spent the rest of the day with my other daughter enjoying a BBQ - I actually saw all 5 of my grandchildren yesterday. I have also enjoyed 7 hours sleep last night which is unusual for me, I must have needed it.

HAD MY COLINOSCOPY, IT WENT WELL BUT SHE FOUND ANOTHER TUMOR. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THE TUMOR IS A POLYP AND I AM HAVING ANOTHER COLONOSCOPY AND THE LIGHT TO REMOVE IT. AFTER ALL THE CHEMO MY ENZYMES LEVEL WENT WAY UP AND I HAVE A SPOT ON MY LIVER. IT IS VERY STRESSFUL BUT I THINK THIS A SIDE EFFECT OF CHEMO. WHAT DO YOU THINK? I AM GOING FOR SOME MORE TEST SOON WHEN DOES IT EVER END!
