Have just been told that carboplatin alone isn't working for me (previously had carboplatin and taxol which didn't work either) and that my CA125 is now 2000. Have been recommended to try Topotecan. Does anyone have any experience of trying this and what was outcome?

Topotecan
Dear Mary,
I am aware that you will be checking for responses to this and reading Jean's post about her predicament. I just want to acknowledge that that might frighten you, but that there will be others who have had good results. I have no experience to offer, but wanted to offer you a virtual smile.
Isadora.
Bless you dear Mary, I am sending you healing hugs by thought and praying the topotecan works for you darling xxx
Hi Mary,
Like you, I am going through the platinum resistant options as I had no success with carboplatin and taxol. I have been to Barts today for a second opinion as to whether to go ahead with caeylx which is my second line chemo or try something more radical. Realistically it seems I have a 14% of it working for me (20% for people who had a better response to carboplatin/taxol initially). This my plan A. Similar for weekly taxol. This my plan B. Slightly less for topetecan - but not much less. This is my plan C.
As Tina says...we all just have to hope the next chemo is the one which works for our particular cancer.
Love Lizzie

Hi mary,
As we always say, everyone is different and reacts in different ways. I have had Topetecan, and it worked to start with, and I had the full 6 courses even though my count was going up. I then went on treosulphate/gemocitabin and it has worked well for me. My count is down to 19 for the first time in 14 months and I am now having a break to see how long it stays down. CT scan on Monday to see what it has done. Fingers crossed.
good luck
