I’m going through the diagnosis process at the mo. Had CT scan last week. Follow up appointment isn’t until a week on Monday. I’m quite sure I’m suffering with ascites. Do I wait til that appointment to find out or should I call someone (consultant’s secretary or my own GP) to ask for it to be drained before then? I’m so uncomfortable 😔

Don't wait. Call your GP/ the consultant and/or go to A&E. You don't have to suffer. And don't feel like you're making a fuss.

Agree. I was waddling like a pregnant woman before my surgery and wish I had been advised that I could have it seen to (I wasn't nor was I even asked about my bloating) I hope you get it sorted out xx

I went to A and E where I was drained overnight and subsequently diagnosed. Whilst waiting for chemo to start about 5 to 6 weeks it had to be drained again as it was so bad : this time organised by my specialist nurse. 🙏

Go to A and E. Don’t suffer, you have to be your own advocate. Don’t let anyone make you think you are making a fuss.

Yes go to A&E. it was a route recommended to be by an NHS clinician to get seen sooner for my pleural effusion.

Not the time to be ‘polite’ and wait your turn!

Good luck,

I went to GP with my bloated stomach while waiting to be seen/appointments at hospital . She sent me straight to hospital where I had an ultrasound, kept in a few night and sent home because didn’t want to drain me until I had a biopsy . Though I did get the CT scan earlier while admitted. Waited 3 weeks for biopsy being very uncomfortable looked like I was having twins. Drained 8 Lts after biopsy and again two weeks later before chemo started. Chemotherapy kept the fluid away.

So yes see GP for them to admit you or go to A&E. make a fuss.

Good luck with your treatment
