Hi my mum had a full hysterectomy following a diagnosis of Stage 1C clear cell OC. 6 months of Chemo followed this. Since treatment and op she has been suffering with what has been described as chronic pelvic pain ever since. She had been told she cannot go on HRT as her cancer was Clear Cell.
She has been seeing her GPover the years who has said CA125 levels are within normal range no further treatment can be done. She worries one day a possible recurrence could happen. Could be due to scarring and stress causing pain.
Has anyone else suffered anything similar?

clear cell is usually, but not always, estrogen receptor negative. If it’s negative, hrt could be taken safely. Taking a uterus out through a hysterectomy is unnecessary in stage 1 ovarian cancer confined to an ovary. Too bad doctors don’t tell women that and usually women find themselves in such a vulnerable situation after an OC diagnosis that they’ve no strength to ask doctors what’s necessary really. Hysterectomy carries many post surgical complications, including pain and sexual dysfunction. Unfortunately, women with early stage OC are duped many times into unnecessary hysterectomy. Very sad. I wish your mom the very best and NED forever. Also may want to look into HRT.
