Saw the doctor today had a little shock they have found a granulosa cell tumour which was in my ovary that was removed. The doctor seems pretty sure they got it out with the ovary and didn’t seem unduly worried I have to have a blood test and a ct scan but no treatment just a follow up in 4 months.
Has anyone else had this any info much appreciated.
Thanks

I was diagnosed with Stage 1 in 2014. Had surgery. A year later it came back. I have been tried on many different things including chemo. I am now Stage 4 and inoperable and on no treatment for the past year. Just wait and see is what my doc says. It will be 6 years come this May. I will be 58. I live in Sioux Falls, SD. From what I hear this is very slow growing. It is quite rare. If you have any questions you can talk to me on here or my personal email is KSmiley15@yahoo.com.
Janet I just had a total abdominal hysterectomy because of a huge tumor on my left ovary that was causing fluid in my right lung (a rare thing called Meigs Syndrome). Most tumors associated with that syndrome are benign but of course mine wasn't -- it was a granulosa cell tumor, Stage 1 A. My doctor advised the same thing, frequent monitoring for the rest of my life to try get ahead of any possible regrowth. It's a rare form of cancer for us, and there hasn't been a whole lot of research done on GCT. From what I've been reading it all hinges on recurrence. Chemo is not recommended until/unless stage 1C or higher. Constant monitoring is key as it is a slow growing type of cancer. Try not to freak out too much right now and focus on healing and just know you're going to have to stay on top of your follow-ups for a long time.
